Today, I had to go on a field trip with my 9yr old to Henry County Indiana's Historical Society. I knew about Wilbur from living here for 11+yrs, but had my memory jogged today.

Got some cool shots of some old Victrolas, cylinder music boxes and others. I'll get them posted later on. Madmax should get a kick out of them.

God, I wonder some days! I passed up a job in Des Moines about 2 years ago. The cost of housing construction and the taxes were too high compared to staying here... But, I do miss the summers up there. And, the down-to-earth people.

Speaking of down-to-earth, one really odd observation we made while working with the builders up there - very few homes had a master bath worth a damn, and even fewer had private toilet rooms in the master baths. Only a couple builders would consider a change to their plans to accomadate that... I guess Iowegens don't have an issue with doing their business in front of their spouses...

Never really thought about that much I must say. I live in a fraternity house right now so just about anything seems nice and spacious than this place haha. I know my parents have a huge master bath but not separate room for the toilet. It just seems like one of the lavish expenses that that Iowans don't seem to want to spend money on would be my guess

We have separate outhouses at the farm. Does that count?

Trust me, once the "honeymoon phase" is over, having a separate room to do some business will not seem like a lavish expense. Cost of materials for a door, a couple studs, a slab or two of domestically produced sheetrock should run less than $300. For a five year occupancy, that should be about 16 cents per day.

Yes, the separate outhouses count in both Iowa and Illinois, probably not in South Dakota or Minnesota though.

I'm up in North Central Iowa bout two hours north of DM. As far as any good places to buy audio gear around here good luck with that It seems that not too many people are into that. I find it hard to even find a shop within driving distance to listen to anything before buying.

Maybe if we could find enough guys and gals in the area we could put together some kind of little get together and listen to a few rigs that everyone has?

I do know where Atkins is. Getting together would be cool or at least knowing people semi close to maybe swap some gear between or something is cool. Sad thing is I don't have much still being in school. I got some stuff though haha

Working. In North Iowa the only choice is turning sod for a living.
No thanks, been there, done that.

Rockford for me. I seem to recall a nice brunette from Osage and a bottle
of tequila. And damn little else from that night.

I lived in Spencer Iowa for six years. I now call that my second home. People that are originally from Iowa think I am crazy, but Iowa is one of the best mid-western states. Great people, great meat, great food, and cheap housing.

What I really miss is going to the local farmer on the corner during a hot summer day and picking up a bag of sweet candy corn.
