...does it affect your view of that company and how you do business with them?
I have a few pieces of software that I use at home from a certain company. When I signed up for a support account, I made sure I used my "spam account". That's an old email address I still check but it gets spammed incessantly so I use that in the chance that a sign up or login might get spammed.
Well, I was checking email a few weeks ago and I got spam from the mentioned company above. I thought they were just sending out stuff to drum up business. Well, the emails started trickling in slowly and now I'm getting a couple messages a day from them.
The thing is, I checked the origin and the accounts that get spam to see the trail. The email address I have registered with them is not the email address they are sending the spam to. The spam is going to an address I have for my webmaster duties at several websites I either maintain or help out with. The source is 3 of these websites, not just one. The 3 are ones that are non-profits and can't afford to invest in hardcore anti-spam software so we have them set up with free or shareware stuff.
Well, when I found that out, I realized that this supposedly reputable company is trolling the internet, stripping addresses from forums and spamming the hell out of them. It ticked me off to the point where I am considering dropping their software and going with a competitor.
Anybody else run in to that kind of problem?

I have run into this issue more times than I care to remember. I have a few accounts set up just for site registration and product registration. It seems like after I register a product or send in a warranty card I start getting spammed as well. It's annoying for sure, but if the product is REALLY good I keep using it till I need to renew a subscription or it is out of date. Sure makes me question their business practices though. I do backtraces every now and then to see where it originates and there are a few addys that are always popping up. I use Hushmail for everything else; it's a pretty decent service.
On a side note, since you are a computer guru, do you know of any way to import a list of addys (manually) to your email account that filters all this besides the normal spam filter.....kinda like Peer Guardian ? -

No, I'm not getting spam from them on an email that I registered with them. I'm getting spammed on other email addresses that this company has no idea are attached to me. The registered account doesn't get any spam from them, actually.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

I've TRIED to report Time Warner for spam, but since I have Road Runner....I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!
