Following a Massachusetts high school petition protesting the treatment of dogs in Call of Duty: World at War, the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is now joining the protest as well. Upon seeing news of the protest, PETA sent publisher Activision Blizzard an invitation to take one of its "Developing Empathy for Animals" seminars for free. The organization has also sent the company a package of Nintendogs for the DS, which it deems "dog-friendly." PETA hopes the puppy sim will help influence Activision's treatment of animals in future games, with the organization's blog noting "perhaps the next Call of Duty game will have you unlock achievements for petting the dogs you encounter and going on walks or playing Frisbee with them."

Is that before or after the **** attack dog bites the player's hand off?

It's a game, it's not real. They should back off all together.

Has anyone stepped forward to start an adoption program for these animals? Has PETA been through the kennels? I think Betty White and other celebs should step up here to save these poor creatures from this inhumane torture! Geez, what the hell is wrong with the world today? LOL:D

I riddle those dogs with bullets all the time. Those 3 xp points per clip really add up. I always seem to play on the losing team, and the winning team always has a guy that gets 7 kils in a row constantly.....yep, that means constant dog attacks.

I test my skill by knifing them too, and yet I love dogs in real life. go figure.

somehow, there must be a T shirt in the works for this, thats all I'm sayin :D

I see the next installment of the game being "Call of Doody: The Front Lawn" where you get to be a crotchety old man with a rocking chair and a porch and you get to shoot dogs taking a dump on your front lawn.

If it was just a game where you could kill dogs, that's one thing. (I still think PETA would be stupid for making a big deal about that, but whatever) My issue with this is that it's a historical piece! Activision is trying to be as historically accurate as possible, and that includes **** traded dogs. It would be as ridiculous as the Pork Industry protesting Charlotte's Web...

I really like animals but PETA has it all wrong as does the so-called Humane Society. These guys seem to have the right idea:

Although their mission is a little narrower than the two aforementioned groups. Chris

I just had something happen, that to me is just wrong, and it falls right into this thread so......

I was walking my almost 3 year old up the street and a neighbors just graduated high school daughter was getting in a car. My son spots some sheets of stickers in her hand and exclaims "STICKERS". So she gives him a sheet. I have him tell her thank you and we go on. When we get home I'm checking them out, only to find it is PETA propaganda.

I have no objection to people that feel this way, he!! I love animals they're delicious.
But these stickers were definitely geared towards elementary age kids. Very cartoonish cows, monkeys, chickens, fish etc. With text such as "Meat is Murder", "I'm Scared Of Needles Too! Please Don't Test On Me", "Fish Are Friends Not Food".
This one really sent me over the top: "Cut Class, Not Frogs! Don't Dissect"

Like I said I don't have a problem with adults having different opinions than me. They are adults and can make up their own minds. But to produce this crap and target children is BS. I am going to find out if our school allowed PETA on campus to distribute this propaganda.
Not that I did not cut class or even a whole day when I was in school, but for an adult to promote cutting class to youngsters to further their agenda has just got me boiling.

So in ending my rant, parents keep an eye out for this at your schools. If you want to teach your child this at home, your prerogative. But PETA should focus their efforts on adults, not children.

I had an experience like yours some years ago. Long story short, daughter was handed a bunch of papers and stickers at a local street fair. Everything we were getting was put into one bag and gone through later. Fast forward.....later that evening we were going though it and there were some "educational" papers with pictures of animals being murdered all over the place. Cows being sledge hammered, chickens hanging upside down on the hooks, pigs blah-blah-blah. Needless to say I was shocked that they would give this info. out to a 8 year old. I was trying to explain that one for a while to my daughter. Fast forward again.....now my daughter is a vegetarian and has been ever since. Go figure.

I would assume there are laws on the books to protect children against these kinds of images, at least when someone specifically hands them to children. I mean, if you handed a porno to a child you'd go to jail; if you worked at Best Buy and sold an R-rated movie to a child you could (in theory) be fined. So I'm sure handing out objectionable and violent materials specifically to children is at least a fineable offense. Someone should look into it. Maybe finally stop these whackos once and for all.

A couple of days ago I saw in our local paper (The Lansing State Journal), there were a couple of girls downtown with a portable shower set up to show how much water is used to process a pound of meat. I'm sure they got lots of attention being scantly clad so to speak. Wackos for sure.
