What did i do to my sub?

Well - the "i don't need to read the manual" idea has finally potentially hit me.

I was testing out a new stereo receiver (Onkyo TX-SR806) for a friend (testing the HDMI throughput) so i hooked up all of my speakers.

I began to notice that my sub (Klipsch Synergy Sub-10) was not putting anything out. I tried all kinds of troubleshooting before i finally picked up the manual and right on one of the first pages it made sure to point out that with a powered sub, make sure to use the pre-out subwoofer connection - not the other one (which i can only assume is powered from the amp).

So - i switched it to the other connection - but i'm still getting no sound from the sub. I re-hooked up my own receiver (Panasonic SA-XR25) and still getting no sound from the sub.

The odd thing is, i never heard anything from the sub that sounded like i had damaged it. I'm rather at a loss here and though the sub wasn't amazing, it was perfect for what i needed and i'm about a year away from being able to spend money on another one if it's down for the count (thanks Dave Ramsey).

Any ideas?

I wasn't sure where to post this as it's not a Polk sub - so i didn't want to put it in the troubleshooting thread which looks like Polk technicians look at - but i know there is good expertise that comes through these boards, so i wanted to see if someone might be able to help.

Thanks!

What was the connector labled that you used first? My guess first would be a fuse.

Did you get anything at all from the sub when the Onk was first fired up?

Well - i posted this as well on the AVS forums, and i had a guy responding pointing out that i had it plugged into an input on the Onkyo - so whatever is wrong with the sub probably had little to do with that connection. So now i'm back at square one again - i guess i'll go play around with it some and see if i can make something work.

No - i never got any bass from the Onkyo at all - and for that matter, i don't remember teh last time i really used the sub that much (i usually watch movies at night when the little ones are asleep, and therefore rarely have the sub at an audible level)
    Thanks for the response

Yeh if it was an input on the Onk not much (any) of a chance you damaged it there. Ok, a fuse is still a easy fix as well as making sure the AVR set ups (I know you had both hooked up, but since it has been a while) Are both subs turned on in the AVR menus? Are you sure you are feeding it something with an LFE track? Do you get any LED power indicators to show power?

Is the sub output turned on internally in the Onkyo? It may be off by default.

Ok - it seems as if the LFE input on the back of the sub doesn't work. There are two RCA Jacks. One for each channel if i had two channels feeding into it, or if i only have one cable feeding into it (which i do) then one of them has / LFE after the direction. the sub manual says to plug into it, but when i do, i get nothing. But if i plug the solo cable into the other one the sub works (which is what i must have been doing before i guess).

Is this ok since it seems to work?

And i'm not sure about the default settings for the Onkyo. I went into the display menus and thought that i made sure that it was looking for a sub to work - but since i had it running through teh jack that doesn't seem to work, i'm not sure about it. I've already boxed back up the Onkyo as everything else checked out ok and i thought it was sub and not the feed - and i'm not planning on unpacking it again unless i have to i guess - so just not sure
