Are these the original stands from Polk for this model?
http://polksda.com/ebay/5751854852_Mon5A.pdf

I did a search, but didn't have much luck.

These don't appear to be tilted like the wood m7 and m10 stands Ive seen.
Are they hard to find? I don't think I've ever come across any.

So I guess they are meant to be placed low...just off the ground a few inches?

Thanks
Jeff

Not sure if this helps of confuses even more but I have seen an exact set like the one pictured on 10's.

Not sure if it was a period type stand but seen that type before.

Those definitely aren't originals. Here's a reference thread for the original Monitor Series stands.

    http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24335

I was lucky enough to score an original pair of stands for my 7A's a few weeks back. The ones I got are the same as the ones shown in post 20 of that thread.

The stands definitely do make a noticeable difference in sound though. The purpose of them is mainly to get the tweeters up closer to ear level, as well as tilt them back. The 6 degree tilt is to achieve a cheap form of time alignment basically. In which the tweeters are positioned slightly farther back, to compensate for the varying wavelengths and cause the sound from the individual drivers to reach your ears at the same time.
It's not as good as a true time aligned speaker, but it's an excellent way of achieving similar results on the cheap.
