Ive had my system in my car for about 2 years 2 polk SR 12's C500.1, C400.4, db651's front, db691's back. Starting about 2 months ago ive noticed ignition noise you know that whine with the rpm's. I havent changed anything since I did the install. My IC's are running down the passenger side and the speaker wires are run down the driver side. Im using a scoshe install kit main power wire is run underneath the car. Amps are grounded to the frame in the back, amps are in the trunk. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Is it the ground on the head unit or the amps? ohh the car is a 1991 acura legend which uses coil packs. Any help is greatly appreciated its not that loud but enough to bother me. Up until about 2 months ago it was dead quite. :(

Have you alternator checked....the diodes may be bad or going bad.

It only a guess, and it won't hurt to check it anyways. The Alt. light doesn't always come on when there's a problem. Let me know what the results of the test are.

    Doubt its the alternator.

First thing to check would be the grounds for the amps. Make sure theyre still secure.

It could also be one of the RCA's has a faulty ground in it.

Thanks mac was waiting for you to chime in I did check the grounds on the amps contacts are still clean and tight. I will go ahead and replace the RCA's instead of the alt its just a PITA 3 sets to the back. :(

Yup, same thing happened to me. Had the same set of Streetwires RCA's in my car. First year they worked like a charm. Then the first show of last season I got docked 1 point for engine noise. I raised hell because I knew for a fact I didnt have any engine noise. Then I got in and listened and Ill be a sumbitch there is was. I looked and worked and checked for a couple days then decided to swap in my old JL Audio RCA's from my truck which looked funny as it was 18' and my current setup required 3'. But as soon as I swapped them in the noise was gone.

Ive heard other people having the same problem with their Streetwires so Im using Tsunami currently.
