Left of Center

I wanted to ask everyone what they thought about setting up center speaker that is just slightly left of center? The reason I am asking this question is that my TV stand has a center divider (Stupid idea). However the only way I can put up a center speaker is to put it either in the right or left bay of my stand. It will be close to the actual center but not exactly. Will that matter to the sound at all?

I can not give you any great help here, since I have never had to try anything like this. But my best guess is: you probably would see/hear something is just not right.

When you say, "It will be close to the actual center but not exactly" are you talking 1" or 5"? A small amount I doubt will matter, I just don't know what that small amount may be. The "non" prime seating offset to the other side will be affected the most, you could try to skew the speaker a little to compensate. I would just say give it a try and see if you hear/see anything adverse. If you do then you can pursue some alternatives.

    Hi Evanguy

Try it and see how it sounds. If it sounds off-center (was that a pun?), could you mount it above your tv? Or, on top of your TV? There are mounting shelves especailly made for this.

There are also center channel speaker stands that are designed to go under a wall mounted TV. These are at a low enough height so as to not block the TV screen. Maybe you could put one of these stands in front of the TV stand.

Thanks everyone for your help. I bought the small Definitive ProCenter 1000 and it seems to work out good. I have it just to the right of center actually and it sounds good. I will keep in mind the speaker stand option too down the road.
