Dose anybody know of a "NEW" tube pre amp, with a phono section????
So far I have found none...at least in the 1K range. Right now my guess is I have to look used. Is there anything new out there thats worth looking at????
Thanks

Rogue Audio Metis is a great tube preamp with a respectable phono section for as little as $550 on Audiogon. It was my first tube pre and it really made sweet music.

Well if I'm looking at used stuff..I would go for an AR SP-9MK3 or an AR SP-10( I may be looking for a long time)
I was looking for NEW from a dealer around 1K that may come close.
Which i have not found...most are just line stuff, which means i have to go for a seperate phone pre amp. I don't have space in my rack for that. Nore do i really like those....they all seem to have the 12V converter crap...and the price on these..seems out of hand. -
Hi bob.
Maybe get whatever pre you like and add an outboard phono?

The ASL AQ2006 DT is a little higher at 1.5k. www.divertech.com I have 4 different ASL stuff and they're all quite impressive for the price. If you're looking for tubes, becareful at matching them with SS amps. Sometimes, the large difference in imp. can produce noise or hum. If you're looking for SS, Naim is very nice. Not sure if it has a phono section.
I agree with Mike. You should use an outboard phono stage, that way you can try out different pre's and phono stages in the future. -
+1, my pre is very neutral and my phono adds the tubey warmth.

There are a number of Audible Illusion Modulus 3A's on audiogon right now, ranging from $750 to $1175. I was seconds from buying one, and pussed out. The one that's listed for $1000 w/200hrs on it, Nice guy I traded a number of emails with him.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

I all ready bought the Jolidia JD-100A..just waiting for it to get here...LOL
But you could be right about trying to mix a tube preamp with SS power amp.
I have an Onkyo integra M-504 basically a hugh dual mono block.
I looked for SS Preamps also...with a phono section..not a great selection there either. I looked at the new NAD C-165....reads very good, but no reviews on it. I called one place that had it listed....the guy said the phono section was only so-so....but then in the same breath...recommended the NAD PP-2.
Dosen't make alot of sence....the C-165 (at $900)is there new and best preamp..the PP-2 you can buy for $125??????
The preamp has more settings on it for MM/MC...the PP-2 has none??????
Why use a a cheap phono section, on there top of the line new preamp????
Anybody know anything about this preamp? -
I'd go used. ARC would be my 1st choice."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson

I tend to agreed with the ARC choice...but waiting around for an SP-9MKiii...
or 10...in good shape, could be a long wait...LOL
