Seems like a lot of folks like the NAD C542 player that decodes HDCD's.

With the exception of DVD-Audio (I know, right?) the M5 does everything well.

I've got a 521i, more or less entry level, but a big step up from
most DVD players. I little harsh edge on some parts of the
spectrum. I haven't plugged it in for a while to remember
specifics. I think a few mods would make it a pretty decent
player for the money. The displays on these weren't the greatest."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. I've been considering a NAD M5 for my first dedicated SACD player. I'd love to hear anyones thoughts on it.The nirvana inducer-

I had an Onkyo DVD player as my source and replaced it with a $500 NAD C-542 and it was a significant improvement all around. It's got a nice smooth, warm, no etchyness presentation. Then I upgraded to a used BADA HD-22 tube cdp and it blew the snot out of the NAD for about the same price.

Our search engine does not like 3 letter words. Try nad* and you will find all the NADs you want.
Over the years I've owned a NAD 510, a NAD C521BEE and currently own a NAD T572 CD/DVD changer. IMO NAD CDPs have a laid back and muscial sound quality. To some that is a drawback, but for me it is a plus. I have some other CDPs that I would consider much more acurate and detailed...but I prefer the NAD sound."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Just got a chance to sit down and chill with the NAD 522 CD player and I would say it is a little better than some of the reviews I read online.
Mine does play every burned disk I threw at it, but did have a little trouble playing discs that are in bad shape.
My Denon DVD-2800II played every and even the ugliest disk you could possibly feed it.
Good enty level player, but I think I will upgrade to something with HDCD. -
I recently purchased the C-565BEE. Doesnt do SACD, but upsamples. Nice player.:DReceiver: Pioneer Elite SC-05

Anybody know how do maintenance on these NAD CD Players or can recommend a website with a tutorial? Maybe just cleam the laser or grease some parts?
