Before I pull the trigger on the Jolidia, Is there any other CDP (tube)I should look into for the 1K price? This is to replace my Sony XA3ES.
Or is there really nothing in the price range that comes close???

The Jolida is said to be the best tube CDP under $1k. It's my next cdp as well.

Until you start jumping on the Jolida bandwagon,I suggest you try out the Bada HD-22SE.
I just got one and am very pleased with it. At $599 new it's a steal.
Leroy, you should come down to Rockford and get your ears around the Bada. -
Bobt, just out of curiosity what pre-amp are you considering upgrading to? The Adcom GTP-400 is going to be a major bottleneck in your system after you upgrade the CD player. It might even benefit you to upgrade the pre first...Speakers: Polk LSi15
Pre: Adcom GFP-750 with HT Bypass
Amp: Pass Labs X-150
CD/DVD Player: Classe CDP-10
Interconnects: MIT Shortgun S3 Pro XLR
Speaker cables: MIT MH-750 bi-wire
TT:Micro Seiki DD-35
Cartridge:Denon DL-160
Phono Pre:PS Audio GCPH -
Yeah the Adcom preamp..is not the best. I would love a AR sp-9 MK3 or a 10...but finding those may be a problem, at least at a 1K price. I could go for maybe a CJ- PV5......but not sure on that.

You can get a good CD player for about $25 on CL. You don't need to spend 1K. It is just 1's and 0's. They all sound the same. Hell I got a 5 DISC CD CHANGER for about 15 minutes of caulking.:rolleyes:I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

I'm very impressed with the Original CD-A8T. 12AU7 tubes used as buffers.

Zero - I bet the Lector is the shiznit but the question was below $1000............
-
daboyz - I read it as "at" $1000. Still, the used Lector is a tad above the range - but really, the only other solid options I can think of at this level would be a used Naim CD5i or a used Cambridge 840, neither of which are tubed.
You're correct,my bust on the terminology. I guess it's the cheap part of me that always thinks "less than" then "around" the dollar figure. Someday I hope to have the coin to be able to afford a cdp like the Lector.
Tubes definitely rule.
