I need to talk to somebody that owns a Salamander "Sonoma" 323 Twin rack. I don't need Salamander websites or anything like that. I just need to talk to somebody that actually owns one of these.

No. The big honker Onkyo IN it.

I have no such Emotiva gear, and am not even trendy enough to know/care.

I don't have that specific Salamander model, but I do have an S40 rack. Whatcha trying to figure out? Many of the Salamander products are modular and share parts/designs.

I have an oversize Onk power amp that I need to get into one of the bottom shelf spaces, so I need the inside width of one of those spaces. Depth and height are probably not a problem.

Interior width is 19.75 according to Salamander, which I believe is the same as my S40, however, if the rack is anything like my S40, the opening will be narrower due to the vertical aluminum posts in the front/back. Also, the door hinges are pretty substantial on all the Salamander products. They stick in another 1/2" or so, but they have quick releases for when you need to put in/out gear.

I know you didn't want a link to the webpage, but there is a picture there that will help you understand what I'm getting at.
    Go to this page,
    http://www.salamanderdesigns.com/chameleon/#/sonoma
Click on the tab that says "inside story", then click on the 'Soft Close Doors' tab. That shows the door hinge and give you an idea of what you give up due to the vertical post.
I had to be creative with mine to get my Parasound HCA2200 in the rack (which is 19" wide on the front panel).

Salamander has a 'deep back' panel option if you need more depth to the shelves. I think they standard depth is only 19.5 deep, but again, you will probably loose some of that due to the posts. However, if you can't get between the vertical posts, the extra depth won't help you...

Thanks Bill! My amp is exactly 19" wide x 16 1/2" deep. How does that compare with your Parasound?

I could always go for the Sonoma Model 329, which has the top shelf for the center speaker, and shove the Onk in there, but I'd rather not.

Pretty similar sized. The Parasound was wide only in the front, which had a rack mount style front panel. I think you will be fine. Just put the amp in before you mount the door.

Where can you buy Chameleon? I want one if it can house my A6.

I have 2 salamanders. one without doors (didnt put them on, openning between metal posts is 19.50. On my other one, its around 18.75 but thats because of the door. without the door its probably the same as my other one.

worst case scenario if the rack is assembled you might have to take th door off to get it in, or 16 1/2" deep you can angle it in if it is more that single rack wide.

I think your going to be ok

Thanks Big and Bill. I think I am also a little concerned about depth now. The Onk is 16 1/2" deep and that doesn't include binding posts or input jacks. If the cabinet depth is 19 1/2, that is only 3" clearance. Put some nice stiff cables on the back of that thing and I may not be able to get the doors closed.

You can keep the rear panel off George....or pick up the extended rear panel.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
