Concerns with AV123

I was thinking of purchasing some bookshelfs from AV123 and started doing some research. Throughout me reading product reviews, CS, etc, I noticed a trend. AV123 maybe having problems as they are dealing with quite a few unhappy customers. This has been posted over at AVS, Aholics to name a few. Not sure what's going on there but I decided to hold out until I heard from some of you guys here. Thoughts?
Dont get me wrong, love Polk products, just wanting to see what else is out there.

No idea whats up with AV123 but some of there stuff gets great review but not so good customer service.
I suspect this economy will weed out the weak.

MLS is having medical problems, Amp supplier was putting defective parts on the amp board and cabinet supplier were not making schedule. If it is in stock, buy it but if not wait till it is in stock or don't get billed before it is shipped to you.engtaz
I love how music can brighten up a bad day. -
Are you specifically asking about the quality of their products and how they sound or the financial stability of the company as a whole?
I am borrowing a pair of the smaller ELT-535 bookies made by AV123. They use nice drivers, nice cabinets.....assembled in China. It's a smallish monitor...smaller than the LSi 7. They seem to be a tad harder to drive.
Forgot what they retail for....they sound nice enough, don't do anything offending. I know a member had a couple pairs FS and I didn;t think they were worth what he was asking (it was a fair/great price) just didn't think they were worth it. Epos ELS3 or LSi 7 is a better sounding speaker IMO. Probably more expensive too.
Hope this helps

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. What I've noted is that AV123 is having a lot of supply chain and vendor issues. It's typical of smaller companies that don't make themselves what they sell, and any type of disruption in the vendor relationships, supply chain, has a domino impact. I haven't found anything truly spectacular that there products do, just good stuff at decent prices, kind of meat&potatoe's audio stuff. Nothing wrong with that, hope they get there issues worked out.DKG999

If I were you I would stay clear. There is a HUGE thread over at Audioholics started by a person who has been pretty much screwed over by them.
It seems that the owner doesn't deliver what's promised, is the only one who can make decisions & cancel/refund money and is either sick or just plain dodging the heat.
He is no longer answering calls or responding to email.

I know the owner quite well, and they have had problems with new lines getting built and shoddy quality on a new series of x-series electronics. But the ELT, Rocket, X, and Reference line of speakers are excellent quality and terrific value (they do a better job with vifa tweeters than Polk LSi IMHO). IF they have stock on hand, I would have no worries in ordering from them. But if on back order, wait until they are in stock.
When it comes to speakers AV123 builds it own cabinets, as the owner is part owner of some speaker building factories in China and Columbia. Many well-known speaker companies use his factories since quality control is quite high.
In addition, the owner has had some serious cardiac issues and is all but banished from communication other than a small amount of phone time each day.
There ARE some who have been on back order with $$ down, if not complete payment for over a year, sometimes more. Very slowly, a few have been refunded, but its an ugly situation. I firmly believe that eventually, everyone will get refunds or product.Review Site_ (((AudioPursuit)))

Well, not exactly the kind of thread I wanted to see today. That is, I just placed an order with them yesterday haha.
But it is something they had in stock (I believe, and at a great price no less), so hopefully shouldnt be any problems.
Heres to hoping for the best.
