Waiting on the MAC

I thought I would run a little mini-blog here about my experiences with the McIntosh amp that I have coming, starting with the most anxious wait I have ever experienced. I don't think I have felt like this even on a first date. The Amp's previous owner was/is an engineer on the F-22 Raptor project, and seems the sort that has cared for his gear. So much so that he does not want to ship it just yet as he cannot locate the original shipping cartons and instructions. Prior to my placing the buy it now on Ebay, he had already ordered the manuals and boxes from Mac and they should be recieved by him early next week... I agreed that it would be best if we wait for the packaging to arrive before it is shipped, so now all I can do is wait:(... and post here. He is also going to send a factory flight demonstration blu-ray of the F-22 going through it's paces at the hands of the companie's test pilots... He is the guy responsible for certifying that each new bird is ready to spread her wings and fly.... wish I had a job like that!

nooshinjohn - you lucky dog you. I LOVE that fighter. If things went differently for yours truly, I'd probably know her a whole hell of a lot better today. Enjoy the dialogue... and enjoy the new MAC.

Smart move on the sellers part. Having the factory boxes, which are huge, will provide the best protection for the piece. Normally the piece is screwed to a board, placed in a box, then suspended by foam in the corners inside another box. The factory provided white gloves with my pre amp. I thought it was a little over the top and could not bring myself to putting them on for the install!

Congrats on the purchase. What did you get, or have you posted that elsewhere?

If things fall through there is a similar model buried in the flea market.

I found out that the seller of my Mcintosh will not be able to ship it for another two weeks as the boxes for the amp have not been received yet and he will be out of town for two weeks. I have reluctantly agreed to accept a refund. as I do not want to take the interest on my credit card for something I have not received yet... Personally I thing he now knows how much coin he left on the table and wants to resell fore more when he returns...:(

Is it possible that he's just having a streak of bad luck? That has been known to happen from time to time. I kind of doubt that he's intentionally getting screwed on all these deals.

bottom line here is I dont pay 2k for something and wait a month and a half to get it... If you read the rest of the post I said he found out he could get much more for it and seemed to be looking for an excuse to back out of the deal. I was paying 700 bucks less than the amp was worth here... as far as his job is concerned, his email comes from Lockheed Martin's corporate site and identifies his position as what I stated it is, but I have nothing to prove to you here or anyone else for that matter. As far as your reputaion with me, you are fast approaching oblivion...

As far as luck goes Curt, every deal not posted here before it is completed... 100% and those after talking here first? ZERO. I have learned my lesson on that and wont post again until its installed in my RIG!!!:o
