I don't think I would go with them. The top plate is only 4"x4" the FXi specs say they are 13.5" x 8.5". I don't think I would like that much hanging over. I guess they would work, just I wouldn't use them.

dun, try making your own. i bought 12' of 1x12x12 poplar or you can use any wood. cut up 6 pieces to 12x12 and the remaining gets ripped to 4x36 do some stain or clear and put it together. if you want pics of mine let me know

Don't forget to put a couple bags of sand in the stands for stability.

hey sandworms, those look great !! I tried starting a thread on the same thing, before I saw this, but stands that will hold 2 fxi a6's each. I know it sounds crazy, but with my room and wall configuration, it's my best option. Plan on using pollished stainless with a solid base, beefy enough to stop a truck. Have an uncle who ownes a macheine shop and can fabricate anything. Still on the drawing board, but will post pics when done...

God no. I got the Gem1, which is even heavier, and it doesn't work with my F/Xi3s. The base simply isn't stout enough. Fortunately, my father-in-law is a major wood working nut, so I'm going to design something and he's agreed to build it for me and make it pretty. Now I just need to come up with a design....

Fortunately, I also have some LS/FXs, and I can modify the Gems to work with those by bolting into the bottom of the speaker. Other than that, I'd recommend staying away from those.

hey xand, great to see another upstater, you know i'm my worst critic so when i look at my stands i see all the flaws. but, not to bad for a rookie. and they do the job at the height i needed. i'm wondering if i should fill the bottom part with shot?

Not sure that'd be really necessary given those stands - what you've done is considerably more stable than most of the single post stands out there.

Nonetheless: try pushing side to side back to front. If they feel wobbly, go for it.

Unless your speakers are in the path of dashing dogs, irate children or visiting drunks - they might be fine as is - they look more stable than nearly all the stuff out on the market.
