According to the login information it's been 9 months since I last visited the forum and a lot has happened since then, the upgrade project has progressed slowly but I finished ione speaker today and while I type this I am listening to Jennifer Warnes The Well SACD and it's impressive.
Been listening for about 3 hours so far and the change to date is amazing in the sound, hopefully I will have the second one finished this week then all I need to do is get the cloth redone. I searched my previous posts just to remember where I was upto when last here and I would just like to thank you all for the help that has got me to this point seems it was all worth it.
It was never supposed to take this long but life just got in the way and I lost my Dad to cancer as a result, so motivation was lacking but life goes on!
Works to date on the project: Internally brace all corners of the cabinets, double skin the lower cabinet area to 36mm thick and internally coat the cabinet with 6mm body deadener. Made a 18mm thick MDF tweeter chamber, made new 75mm thick Redgum end plates with spikes on the base, replaced the tweeters with RD-1094 units, replaced all the electronics with new 1% spec units using Bennic & Solus including resistors.
Replaced all wiring with 8# quality cable all soldered connections, polished stainless steel cable connection plate with quality connections 6 of including SDA cable.
Things left to do finalize the new grills and fit the new side timber inlay pieces made from fiddleback Redgum timber, load the base with 30kg of garnet ballast, experiment with the dacron filling to get the balance right.
Burn everything in sit back and listen to the changes! just in time for my new amplifiers and CD player that arrived from Italy on Friday and pickup on Monday so it will be interesting how the combination all sounds.
I will post all the photos when I am finished as promised and thanks again to everyone who helped me get this far.

Just like the emoticon over at AudioKarma.....this thread is useless without pictures !!! Sounds like you are going whole hog on those and will have something really special when they're finished!!! I'd really like to see pics of your mods on the cabinets interiors, if you you'd care to post some.:)

Agreed, some pics of all your handy work would be nice to see.Political Correctness'.........defined
