Mounting RT35 to Kitchen Cabinet

I'll try to take some pictures this weekend and upload them.
I'm helping my son who just moved into a new place set up his system. He is using RT35's for both the front L/R and surround sound speakers. In the back of his living room where his surrounds will be, one wall is just the back of his kitchen cabinets down to counter top level. The other wall is an exterior wall and is not a problem.
One option is to mount the surrounds on the side walls near where the couch will be. Will wall mounting the left surround to the back of his kitchen cabinet using the RT35's keyhole sound OK? I figured we could put a 2x4 inside the cabinet to give more support for the 20 lb speaker, but was just wondering if attaching the speaker to this thin backside of the cabinet will cause the cabinet (and anything inside) to rattle or otherwise affect the surround sound coming from this speaker.
If mounting to the cabinet is a bad idea, does anyone have any other ideas for side placement (he doesn't want to place these on a 6' stand). Or would we be better off just mounting them to the wall behind the couch (2 or 3 ft behind it) facing the front of the room -- not angling into the main seating position. He is doing this on a tight budget so he really doesn't want to spend any money on a wall mount and wants to utilize the keyholes
One last question on keyhole mounting. Do you just securely put a screw into the wall then hang the speaker to the screw or is there a special screw-type thing that is made for this.
And the final question. He has 2 stands (adjustable from about 3 to 4 feet). I am trying to convince him to use these for his L/R speakers so they can be angled in to his viewing seat and also be brought forward of the center channel speaker a little bit. He wants to wall mount them because he is afraid that someone will stumble into the stand and knock the speaker down. How much better will the sound be on his modest system (CS245 center channel, PSW303 subwoofer + the 4 RT35's) with the speakers on stands rather than mounted on the wall? Also, is there any way to angle the speakers a little bit when using the keyhole or are you stuck with them being flush with the wall?
Sorry for such a long post, but I had a lot of questions!
thanks,
Murray

Waiting for pictures before trying to reply, I think angle mounting using the keyhole mounts can be done. No special screw... From Polks manual
5. If you are certain that there is a
stud behind the wall surface, drive
a #10 screw (not provided) through
the wall and into the stud at the
marked location.
6. Let the screw protrude 1/16" from
the wall. If there is no stud behind the
chosen location, install a wall anchor
capable of supporting at least 25 lbs.
Not to sure about the kitchen cabinet it is a little different than a wall, but only a little.
