RC60i or 80i Speakers for Front and Rear
Hello. I am new here so please forgive me if I am asking a question already asked and answered ad nauseum.
I am trying to set-up (while my basement is being remodeled) locations for in-wall or in-ceiling speakers for various rooms and for a home theater system. I am attempting to accomplish the ht system without spending too much $$. The tv viewing room where the ht would be installed is approximately 12 x 7. The couch would be on the 7"wall opposite the TV.
The Polk RC60i and RC80i are fairly well-priced on amazon. I was initially thinking of buying the LCiC for in-ceiling center but have learned from reading this forum that in-ceiling or even in-wall is not adviseable for the center speaker. For a sub (if needed) it appears the PSW 10 or 12 would suit our needs. We honestly probably couldn't tell the difference from one system to another but we do want to be able to watch movies and feel surrounded by good, high quality sound.
Questions:
1. Is there any appreciable difference between the 60 and 80 in terms of sound? I would prefer staying small since they would match the recessed lighting but if the 60 sounds tinny or something, we could bump up.
2. Similarly, is there any difference between the 60/80 and the 65/85 in terms of sound? I understand the 60/80 is for in-ceiling, whereas the 65/85 is for in-wall.
3. Given the above, is there any significant difference between putting the speakers in the wall or in the ceiling? we could put them in the rear wall behind and up from the couch and in the wall behind and above the tv, but i would prefer to have them in the ceiling and out of the way of possible furniture i may wish to build up.
4. Lastly, any suggestions for a center speaker, preferably by Polk since the rest of them would be polk? And while I'm at it, any suggestions of a receiver? I keep hearing the name Ongkyko bandied about...
I sincerely appreciate any and all advise/feedback members of this community may provide.
TIA.
Onika

Ok, after doing some more reading, I see that there is an issue with receivers and speakers and what "ohms" they can handle. I had an idea to buy a receiver with a speaker a/b switch so i can put the other rooms on a separate speaker switch box.
am i just woefully over my head...? eek!
