This is information from the Polk Audio web site in 2005 regarding matching older Polk Audio speakers to Center channel and Subs. The info is rather dated at this point but still may be useful.

Thks for the link! Check my original post in this thread and see the Polk link I had found. Seems contradicting, but I'm gonna go with the cs400 per yr suggestion

I hadn't seen that. They may update the list based on what Polk Audio has available.

    interesting document.

Was there any information on how the matchups were decided?

Even speakers by the same manufacturer let alone room acoustics make even the same exact speakers sound quite different in varying room locations. I had 5 identical M&K satellites and even with that match, the center sounded different due to height from floor in the center position.

The newer receivers that have the Audyssey equalizer/mic is very good at matching speakers. I've seen what it could do on a friends weird room using his new Onkyo DHC 9.9 processor and it was amazing how closely it can match different speakers. Even a lot of the cheap receivers use a level of Audyssey now.

Being that I wanted something budget, I tried a few speakers to match my 2.3's and found that an affordable older Infinity Video 1 matched really closely tone-wise. That recommended CS1000 would be nice but I'd think it would be tough to find one and likely not cheap.
HT: Polk SDA SRS 2.3 main fronts, Klipsch RC-25 center channel, Polk RTi-150 rears, M&K V1B sub, Denon AVR-5800, Samsung 52" LCD, Sony BDP-S550

2 Channel: Carver ALS Platinum, Audio Research LS-2B preamp, Counterpoint SA-100 amplifier, Integra CD player, Denon SL7D tt, TC750 phono pre, Nikko tuner

There's speakers that aren't on that list.

I'm working on rebuilding/restoring a cs350ls to go with my m10b's and my Rt/fx's do just fine as surrounds.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

Many here find the 350 to be good match for vintage Polks... myself included.... but I stuck a sl2000 in mine..
