Scarlett Johansson is joining the superhero set.
Her rep confirms that the actress has signed on to play Black Widow in the Iron Man sequel opposite Robert Downey Jr. The deal was signed this afternoon.
"Scarlett is thrilled to be a part of Iron Man," her rep, Marcel Pariseau, tells me.
Meanwhile, after months of negotiations...
The Wrestler's comeback kid, Mickey Rourke, has finally sealed a deal to play villain Whiplash, according to Variety.
Rourke's team had reportedly held out for more money after Marvel's initial offer was just $250,000.
Scheduled for a May 2010 release, part two of the franchise will also include Gwyneth Paltrow returning as Pepper Potts, along with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Don Cheadle playing Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes.

$250,000 for Mickey Rourke? I would consider that an insult.

I'm sorry, but one movie does not a comeback make......Even if his acting was good (didn't watch the movie), he's a physical wreck.....can barely speak, dresses like he's some sort of down and out pimp, etc........
Good on him for getting more roles, but his 'range' will be severely limited IMO.........comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
As awesome as Iron Man was, there wasn't much that could have made it better. Adding Scarlett is that one thing that can make it better.

Mickey has to cooperate with director, do what he was told, no drugs and booze. He will be fine and successful in this movie. I am hoping he will do better acting as masterpiece of his act of acts. $250,000 is kinda insult in my opinion, for a blockbuster hit movie. Maybe Studio is testing him and his quality in acting after bad experiences of his life in hollywood.I am 100% BORN DEAF and No I am not kidding! Why am I here? My wife's hearing!
