SL-2500 on other speakers?

Anyone ever think about matching tweeters from other speakers or even other brand of speakers and putting them on? How would one go about making sure they match (in terms of voltage and XO work and such)?
I was looking to put the SL-2500 on the CMT-340SE. The screw holes don't fit but I could always machine the screw holes so that they work with the cabinets.
Also, what would it entail to install a tweeter? Soldering and shaping the screw holes? Reworking the XO?
