I bought my son a Pioneer receiver and some cheap Jensen speakers. I have every thing working except the ps2. I have his direct tv receiver connected to the cd input and the vcr to the vcr input. The ps2 is connected to the vcr. I even hooked the ps2 directly to the receiver and still no sound. We are getting video but just not audio. I will mess with it some more but thought someone might could help me out.

It is an older Pioneer stero receiver. It isn't an avr. Just audio. Everything is hooked up with rca cables.

What model Pioneer?
If you have the basic A/V cable from the PS2 box, hook up the red and white to R and L. If it don't work, something (A/V cable, reciever, PS2, etc) is faulty. Try hooking it up to the TV directly and see if ya get sound out of it, if so, cables are working. Try stuff like that. Hope this helps.
I have a TV that has some funny stuff going on in the cable department and I just started messing with cables one day. Sure enough when i barely jiggled them I would get B&W or colour. turns out its the TV not the cables.

Not familiar with the PS2, but my first guess if your cables are good would be to look around in the PS2 for an audio set up menu and make sure you have output set up for stereo and the anolog out.

It is a SX-251R. Everything works except the PS2. The VCR and the direct TV all have sound. The TV doesn't have RCA inputs. It is old. It is almost like the sound is muted on the PS2 but pretty sure it isn't. I will do some checking. I can tell you that for $50 for everything, it is pretty loud and sounds pretty good. I will try hooking the PS2 up to the receiver again.
