Hi,
I hope to have a T-5 waiting for me when I get home tonight. I'm going to use it as a phono pre amp only. I found it used at Echo Audio in Portland. I'll post impressions after I hear it. It is supposed to be a great amp for licorice pizza playback. I hope its tasty! Anyone using AVA gear?

Like other manufacturers, he has devoted followers and those who rather not. He offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee for his new gear, and you can call to get his help in verifying used equipment. Sounds like customer service to me. If I wasn’t so happy with my present gear, I’d be checking his stuff out. I occasionally drop in to see whats going on in his forum at Audio Circle.

Let us know what you think of the T5.

I have been using the T-5 for a while now but didnt get my Denon DL-103r back from Soundsmith until this weekend. So the cartridge is still breaking in and sounds great so far. I need to run it in for at least 50 hours before I am too critical. Cymbals sound a little compressed but I need to play about 75 lps before I will say more. Bass and imaging are very nice. Time to spin some vinyl.

Reading the gear in your signature, I like the way you're thinking, bikerboy. DIY tonearm sounds pretty involved/interesting.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts once you get some more time on the set up.

The Van Alstine is sounding very nice. Now I have played about 10 lps so far and the Soundsmith retipped denon is sounding better and better. I was on the fence with the T-5 at first but that was before i got the 103r back. I also got a PS Audio Quintet and that cleaned up the noise that was in the backround when I used the T-5. Now lps sound great. I will post pics of the DIY vacuum record cleaner I made. Now Lps are quiet for the most part, a few clicks or noise on the rare occasion.
Strider: Heres the first post on the 20+ year old denon that I hacked. I need to take a pic of all the crap that I removed from the underside of the tonearm that controlled the lift ect. Now the arm is manual, just the pivot bearings and arm.
