I picked these up at a yard sale sat. The stands seem to be too heavy duty to be issued with these cheap sony speakers. does anybody know anything about these stands? They are heavy. Thanks ,Tony

    You should get out more.

The PR on the new Polk Micro-Pro Subwoofers is square and the "racetrack" style woofer has been around for 20 years or so. DefTech uses that design in the Mythos lineup. Sony used that setup for awhile and I've heard some vintage Sony that were quite nice....honeycomb tweeter and such.

MarkH may know some more historical stuff on that issue.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I've seen Some Older Vintage Pioneer, Technics, Clarion Speakers (both home and autosound) with square cones. They can sounds quite nice and usually comes as a set with the stereo equipments. But these stuff are not HI-FI standard in the old days and reasonable cheap. I owned one set with square drivers in the vintage (I think Pioneer) speakers as I recall.

Thanks, the stands probably cost more to make than the speakers . speaker weight 7 lb.s stand weight 10 lb.s A little sanding and painting, then a set of polk monitor 7s or 5jrs are going on them. the stands deserve this major upgrade .;)
