Speaker Break In

Hey guys.
When they say that the speakers need to be broken in is the crossover that needs to be or the drivers.
My guess it is the capacitors and resistors.
I have heard 50hrs for a proper break in . Does this sound correct.
Why do they have to broken in - in the first place.
Too many questions for one post. Sorry

The crossovers need to burn-in and the drivers need to break-in. I think it would take the crossovers a heck of a lot more time to burn-in than it does for the drivers to break-in. For example; it took my new RD0198s about 75 hours to completely break-in. It took my modded crossovers about 350 hours to burn-in.

man 350 hrs i had no idea.
thanks for the info -
I used Sonic Caps and Mills resistors. It takes so long because the signal is so low.

350 hours? So later this year when I upgrade my XO's with Sonicaps and Mill's resistors I'm going to have roughly a 350 hour break in period? Wow...Will it still sound good right off the bat, and just get better over time? Or is it going to be one of those "sounds good, now it sounds like crap, now it sounds good, now it sounds like crap" kinda deals?...lol
Both the XO components, and the drivers need break in time. The drivers need break in time so that the rubber surrounds can stretch out, and soften up. The voice coils also have a bit of a break in period. The nirvana inducer-

It probably won't take as long with yours because there are not as many caps and resistors in your speakers. Yes, you are correct about the "sounds good, now it sounds like crap, now it sounds good, now it sounds like crap" until they burn-in.
