LSi15 Spur of the Moment Purchase

So I just got the LSi15 for little under $500 shipped. Rather spur of the moment purchase considering I was thinking about another pair of CMT-340SE or waiting for a good SDA pair.

Was it a good price? I see Polk refurbed LSi15 going for $600 shipped minimum. The one I will be receving is new but open box.

Also, is there anything special I should know about them besides the need of a solid amp and/or maybe a crossover mod?

Darn good price. I am shopping Polk refurb market and lowest has been $544 plus 115 shipping. Any left from where you purchased. If so, let me know and I will check them out.

You need the amp, you don't need to modify them.

I got a pair of Outlaw Audio 2200 Monoblocs I was going to use on these. Should that be ok?

Man, I'm kinda nervous now. Never bought really expensive products on eBay from someone who didn't make the products.

It WAS rather cheap, wasn't it?

Lol. Hopefully, I will have something to be congratulated about. I will celebrate once the speakers get here in excellent condition. :D

Ok, thanks for the input. :)

I purchased my LSi15's on e-bay and paid $1000....so you got an awesome deal! I think you will be told that you need a very powerful amp to drive these speakers but I am using a 50 year old dynaco tube amp (I think 30 watts) and I love the way they sound. It is still amazing to me how much bass can come out of such a narrow box with such small drivers.

    Good buy.

But just checking out the completed auctions on ebay, the only one I was able to find for that price and open box, was just a SINGLE Lsi15, not a pair.

I hope I'm not a bearer of bad news, but you may be getting a surprise. If this is the auction, contact the seller before shipping and try to work something out. Unless of course, you were just wanting one.

And if not, congrats. Just trying to look out for a fellow polkie. ;)

Hoooly Hell!!!!! That IS the auction. Are you serious? It was a single speaker? I did not read that at all. I guess when it said SINGLE UNIT, I thought it meant single package. Contacted him as soon as I read this. Let's see what he says...

If so, I am pretty embarassed/ashamed/sad/mad.

If he doesn't cancel your order, contact Ebay. Although it's a fair price for a single speaker and that auction says it is a single unit, the titles says "speakers". I do hope it hasn't shipped yet, otherwise any respectable seller would just tell you it's ok and cancel the sale.

Yeah. I think that's what I must have been thinking. Says speakersssssss and not speaker. The other auctions that are single channel states as such in the title like "R channel speaker" or "L channel speaker".

:( Wow. I guess I was right to be nervous.

Agreed, multiple times in that ad it says "speakers" and it is never really clear if it is a single or multiple. I personally would have clarified that before bidding (because of the "single unit" terminology) but I think you'd have the upper hand if you file a dispute with Ebay. That is a crazy low price for a pair though...

Yeah... I'm a sad Polkie now...

The seller already gave me a Fedex number... is that a definitive sign that he already dropped it off at Fedex?

Nope, it is a sign that he has registered it online for dropoff. My guess is that it ships Monday.

Then I pray he checks his email before he ships. Or, if he's a ****, I hope he has the heart to actually ok a refund instead of seeing my message and still sending it out to cash in a "restocking fee" when I try for a refund.

Whew. I can breathe a sigh of relief. The guy was kind enough to cancel the transaction. Note to self: Read every word of an auction description.

Alls well that ends well. That did sound too good to be true though. 500 for a pair of Lsi15's..man someone would really be hard up for cash at that price?

In this economy? Wouldn't surprise me at all. In fact, a super good deal is what I'm hunting for right now. The time is ripe.

I almost did the EXACT same thing with this guy - though conversed with him before pulling the trigger and explained i thought the plural "speakers" was misleading - i see he didn't change it

I'm glad this worked out in the end - i wonder if he changed wit when he re-listed it...
