Hi everyone, newbie here.
I just purchased a PA CSR center and a PA PSW111 sub to go with my R50 fronts. I have a Harmon Kardon AVR100. While in video 1 mode for watching TV the center iis overly dominant, very little if any sound from the fronts at all.
I try using 3 stereo & pro logic with the same results. I end up using surround off and only using the fronts and the sub.
I've read the HK manual over and over and can't figure out what the heck I'm doing wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Dean

The center channel should be the dominant speaker the majority of the time. It's what anchors all of the direct ahead on screen effects, and carries the majority of the dialogue. In an HT setup, the center channel carries around 50-60 percent of the soundtrack. The nirvana inducer-

thanks for the quick response.
In my situation the center is 99.9%. I'm thinking that this just can't be right. All I'm hearing is a noise coming form the fronts tweeter. -
What's your source stoner? Any chance you are getting a mono signal?

I have a feeling that is the problem. What do you mean by "What's your source" exactly?
I'm not very knowledgable in this area. Everything else seems to work fine;DVD, CD. -

Source=CD player, DVD player, Cable/Satellite etc.
How do you have the source hooked up to the AVR?The nirvana inducer-

The DVD/CD player is hooked via coaxial cable to the AVR.
I have a digital cable box from Time Warner to the TV.
2 separate cables from the TV to the AVR. -
Does it sound the same on all 3 of those sources? What do you use to get the audio signal to the AVR? If you are not using an analog cable (R & L RCA connectors) give that a try.

I see that HK AVR does decode Dolby Digital so it should be able to handle multi channel digital inputs over coax and optical. The stereo analog cables still might be worth a try to force the AVR to use Pro Logic. Not familiar with this AVR will it auto select what surround format to use based on what it is being fed? What do you get if you select DD (Dolby Digital)?

Either turn the center down in the settings, or turn the fronts up. Read the manual if you need more help."They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
