Dark Side of the Moon karma

I am again thinning the vinyl multiples. In my quest for vinyl I have somehow accumulated 7 copies of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. So up for karma is a VG++ condition copy of what is arguably Floyd's best work. It does NOT contain the original posters and stickers. All you need to be eligible is to say "in" and explain briefly which PF album you think is best and why. To keep it interesting only entrants with the explanation will be used in the draw which will be on Wednesday night around 6:00pm pacific. Good luck.

I'm definitely in on this one.:)

I'd have to say that my favorite Floyd album is, in fact, DSOTM. I just find it to have a much better overall sound than the other albums...as an album, it flows non-stop like no other album I've ever heard. It mixes the best of all different worlds. The guitar work in it is phenomenal, and second only to the guitar work on a few select songs on The Wall. I love the bass lines all throughout DSOTM. Especially in "Money", "Any Colour You Like" and "Us and Them". The vocal tracks laid down by Clare Torrey on "The Great Gig in the Sky" still send chills down my spine every time I listen to it. The saxophone solo's through out the album are amazing as well.

Overall, I'd have to say my favorite songs off of DSOTM are "Us and Them" and "Any Colour You Like". IMO, they have the best stereo imaging of the whole album...and the way the two flow together still really impresses me. This is my favorite album of all time, by any artist. I'd love to have it on vinyl to compare to my SACD version.

Floyd is arguably my favorite band(favorite changes on a day to day basis...lol). I have most of their albums(on CD)...DSOTM has always been THE album though. I love all of their stuff, though I go against the grain, and am not a huge fan of the Syd Barret ere Floyd. After Dark Side, I'd have to say Animals and Wish You Were Here occupy the 2 and 3 spots.

In please.:D Excellent Karma Fongolio! Very cool.

in please and great karma. While I would love to have DOTM on vinyl I personally like The Wall the best. It was around the time my wife and I married and lived in ALaska. We spent a lot of time listening to TW out four wheeling in the bush. AS far as what TW offers is the wide range of music and is timeless.

Not in but great karma Bro. I think "Wish You Were Here" is by far their best work. As a matter of fact I use "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" as reference material.

I'm not in but I have to give my favourite album and why...

    Ummagumma...

How can you not love an album that has a song titled...

Several Small Fury Animals Gathered In A Cave Grooving With A Pict:

Never! He cried, never shall ye get me alive
Ye rotten hound of the burnie crew!
Well, I snatched fer the blade an' a Claymore cut and thrust,
And I fell doon before him round his feet. Aye!

    A roar he cried!
Frae the bottom of his heart
That I would nay fall but as dead,
Dead as I can by a' feet, d'ya ken?

    And the wind cried Mary.

A hidden message (at half normal speed) is at 4:32-4:33. In the right speaker you can hear David saying: "This is pretty avant garde, isn't it?" If you play it at double speed, you can hear Roger saying: "Bring back my guitar"

    great karma in please.

my favorite pinkfloyd album is the final cut. i really love the way the vocals sound, they seem to be packed full of emotions.

the only reason i picked that as my favorite was because dsotm and us and them are amazing albums but are much more closely related than the final cut.

    In please...:D

I have to say it's a toss up for me between Dark Side of the Moon, and the Wall. I just absolutely love both of those albums so much. My favorite song on DSOFM is Brain Damage, but i love them all. And on The Wall, my favorite song is Comfortable Numb. I also love Hey you, Run like Hell, Waiting For The Worms, The Trial, The Show Must Go On, Another Brick In The Wall, i guess should just say i pretty much love every song on that album as well...:)

I'd love to get my hands on a Vinyl copy of Dark Side Of The Moon. I've been really wanting to get into Vinyl, and i'd love to see how a vinyl copy of DSOTM would sound on my RTi A7's . Plus having that album would give me a huge push to buy a TT that much sooner. :D

    Good luck/karma to all!

I'd agree with that. DSOTM is my favorite Floyd album...but Comfortably Numb is probably my favorite Floyd song. That's actually where the screen name "comfortablycurt" comes from.;)

That's the only form of DSOTM I never had was Vinyl.
Wore out 3 tape copies and 2 Cd copies which between me and my Kid wore out.
I have the Remastered and SACD versions now that ONLY I touch!!!

DSOTM WAS the biggest selling album of all time ....dunno if that still holds true today?

It's not the best selling of all time anymore. Michael Jacksons "Thriller" holds that honor, having sold about 105 million copies.

AC/DC's "Back in Black", The Eagles "Their Greatest Hits:1971-1975", Whitney Houston/other various artists on "The Bodyguard" soundtrack take the 2-3-4 spots, each selling about 42 million copies.

Backstreet Boys: Millenium:confused: takes the 5 spot, at almost 41 million, followed by the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever at about 40.5 million at number 6.

Floyds DSOTM takes the number 7 spot, with just over 40 million copies sold. The big question is...how the hell did The Backstreet Boys outsell Pink Floyd?:confused:

LOL....the reason Backstreet boys sold so many is the demagraphic that spends on cds.....and that is kids.

In please. "Meddle", "Animals" and "Wish you were Here" are my faves, can't choose between them, but, "DSOTM" is a very close contender and was my fave until I really got into PF's music.

Favorite song is "Echoes" from "Meddle" and "Pigs(Three Different Ones)" from "Animals".

    Cool Karma!

Not in, I have DSOTM on vinyl already, and no turntable haha.

But +1 to The Final Cut, their last album together (Roger and Dave), I believe is also their most raw and emotional. The bestest.
