Well I haven't lost them yet. I know some of you have gotten rid of something, and even while you are doing it you feel nauseous. Well what I am going to loose soon isn't even mine. Things were slowed up a bit last weekend with the get together. So it is happening this weekend. Jerry, and I have been busting hump to get things in order. His speakers were supposed to leave last week, but because of the delay for the get together he decided it would be best to leave them here. Well during the week we had a problem with one of the tweeters. I thought it was just one of those stubborn tweeters that would take a while to open up. Well we received the new replacements yesterday, and things sound great here. After this weekend; maybe tomorrow he will be bringing them home:( I have grown attached to these. They are by far the best sounding speakers that I have built(with Jerry's help) so far. I actually feel nauseous. I feel compelled to go to Jerry's house to visit these.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

You scared me for a minute Ben!

The speakers you guys built are definitely something to be proud of. I would love to hear those someday. The idea of custom built SDA's with new drivers, tweeters, crossover, etc. is very compelling. Congrats on your accomplishment.:)

Ben, you put a lot of yourself in them and they feel almost like family. Your next project just has to be better than the last. Gives you something to look forward too.

I now the feeling hearing bikes I built and rode only to sell them and hear them ride off for the first time is sicking. But like bikes, audio gear comes and go.

    You can't go backwards.
Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

Thanks Carl. I am going to go back to spending some time with them. I have had regrets about getting rid of some gear, but this just kinda sucks. I am real happy that Jerry is getting some great speakers, and he deserves them for sure. I have tried many designs, and have had some originals, but these are tops by far.

It's a time/money thing. I can see you know how it feels;) I do feel real good that a friend who really in all actuality doesn't know me trusted me to design some speaks for him. We both have commentated that we are glad it is almost done. It has made great friends of us. I guess having a new great friend is more important than having some bad **** speakers:eek:

Lightman is leaving early am. Take a ride with him, and say the same after you hear them. It is very involving even with very modest gear. Come down. Jerry made a huge pot of Brunswick stew. I have to get back to the tunes.

Here! Have some SDA2s for $200 to cheer you up:

    http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1239717166&/Polk-Audio-RTi-A9-single-speak

No clue... I just stumbled upon these. SDAs seem to cheer most folks up, here.

Btw, any Boston area SDA/polk user group where I can hear speakers such as these (or their ilk)? I even promise not to use the word "ilk" again, unless of course we Scots start hitting the Drambouie, or the Lagavulin (but never in the same glass, of course).

I know just how you feel!
When I sold my old friends.....my MINT Monitor 10's I was sick! :(
When I moved into my own House after renting one for 9yrs with a nice sized living room......to a next to nothing living room......
No place to put em and they had been packed away for 5yrs.
I held off for all those years but I finally came to grips with the reality that ever using em again wasn't in the cards.
I did sell them to a good friend but they were the best Polks I ever owned and may ever own.

Well they left tonight. It sucked seeing them go, but going to an awesome friend is much better than seeing them just go. Jerry said I could come and visit them. I love mine, but his were my piece de resistance. Very sweet indeed. The Morels tweeters we chose sounded awesome, but they suffered from the epoxy breaking loose. Kinda like shipping vintage Polk MW's. It's a shame. We may mod the Morel tweeters to fix the problem. I am sure it is kinda like the Adcom GFA-565's, and 585's suffering from a bad batch of materials. The Vifa domes sound real sweet, but the Morel's handled the female upper vocal ranges much smoother. Those 6.5 Silver Flutes are way to good for their price. Jerry is such a good friend he offered to buy the 5.5s for the surrounds, and center project we have lined up to replace the LSI's he has. We'll see. I may just keep them. They are not lacking by any means compared to what I was running in other SDA projects, but like I said the Silver Flute 6.5's are just that sweet.

Does that mean the next get together will be at Jerry's place? Your speakers weren't lacking that much compared to Jerry's pair. Start selling more of your interconnects and upgrade the speakers in your cabinets.

Jerry does want us to stop in at his place, and also George. I know mine aren't lacking much at all, but I am never satisfied. I am too analytical I guess. Right now I am enjoying them very much. Steely Dan is putting a big smile on my face as I type. My IC's don't make much money, and most of my sales are at Polkie prices so it is just keeping my name alive. Some day I hope to be able to just kick back and enjoy. Jerry's speaker have done what no others have been able to do so far, and that is his can make a bad recording sound good. Most of the others made good sound better, but showed the flaws of a bad recording. I will continue to seek sonic bliss.

Thanks Steve. George told me to leave the last set alone. My set that I am running now is much better than the last set that George heard. Jerry's are better. I am real close to where I want to be. I hope people don't feel that I am discouraged. I kinda feel like a hound that has almost caught the rabbit. I am ready to eat:) I can taste it. BTW Herbie Handcock's Watermelon man, and Rocket are on, and I feel guilty for complaining.
