With a heavy heart i write this, You just cant believe how fast a loved one can take a turn for the worse so fast. I make reference to my father, a loving person, caring, considerate, etc. I think most of you here can relate. In bad health for the last 15 yrs, always chipper and positive, never complaining. Just turned 65 on the 28th of feb. With severe complications from a variety of ailments confining him to a hospitol bed, his condition worsening by the day, i have to give thanks to the times i had with him, the inevitable in site. Love them everyday, never taking them for granted. No problem spilling my guts to my extented family here at Polk. THANK YOU!

pat.

    I feel you retro,

My mother was hospitalized soon after my father died this summer (he went quick). Eventually she began to disintegrate (from Nov. to January) then passed on the 13th of Feb. Hang in there and remember what you still carry within you from a lifetime of experience and memories. They are 'forever'.

I lost my father when i was 15, definitely one of the worst things that can happen to a family in my opinion, losing any member.

I wish you and your family the best Retro.
    And offer my deepest condolences.

I'm sorry to hear that Pat. Life itself is a miracle, unfortunately it has to come to an end eventually. It won't be good bye forever though. You'll meet again someday... You just have to give thanks for the time that you've had with him, and cherish the time you still have left.

You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I feel your pain, I just lost my Grandfather on the 13th of February. I got a call that he had a massive stroke and was in a coma and they didn't think he was going to make it. I am in the Air Force and was allowed to go home on Emergency Leave to see him, but he passed the day I left. He was a big influance on me growing up and was a wonderful man. It's not easy, and being so far from home makes it tough to be there in times like this. Thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

I can relate to what you are going through. My father went into the hospital for a 'minor' operation and he never left the hospital. He died 5 days after the surgery. Somebody screwed something up. He only had one lucid day before he died.
Last January my Mom went in to have the arteries in her neck cleaned out. Everything seemed to be going well. Then she had a heat attack but they were able to revive her. Again, she seems to be recovering well then she has a stroke. She has recovered as well as she ever will. It's like she turned into this little old lady over night. I know her time is limited but it is so hard to be with her. To me it's as if my Mom never left the hospital. Her body is there but it's not the woman that raised me. Does that make sense?
Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. I'm going to go get some kleenex now.

Sending good thoughts your way, & my condolences to those who have lost loved ones recently.

lost my father to cancer 4 years ago, still think of him everyday , it really bothers me that he didnt meet my daughter and son ; Lost my brother 2 years ago next thursday , miss him a lot too, he went in for a check up and died in the hospital the same day! I have nothing but good memories of them, couldn't have asked for a more perfect dad than the one I had. Something I could never forget is one day when he was already very sick and in a lot of pain I came into the room and saw his painkiller pills on his hand and I coul tell he was in a lot of pain, so I asked him why he didn't take the pills (morphine) and he told me " I'd rather be in pain but really BE HERE with you , than be with no pain but drugged up and not really being here with you." that is how much he loved us, just like we loved him.

    Hang in there, prayers sent.

Wow, how amazing it is that so many of us have suffered such painful losses. I received a lot of comfort from so many here when both of my parents passed within three months of each other this last year. It's very hard, but you'll get through it, and find yourself a better, more compassionate and caring person for it.

God bless you & hang in there.
