I swear, all the SDA's are just trying to avoid me. Man... I have friends in Berkeley, but I doubt they would be willing to lug these around in their semi-small car.

I'm going to look up some trucking service... If these drop to $350-ish, I bet it would be worth it to truck them over to me. Neh?

John, I happen to be in the freight business. The speakers weight 135lbs ea, so with the pallet and packing material the shipment would be close to 325lbs. I can get a pallet rate of ~ $180.00 maybe less. However, the killer from my perspective is buying the 2" hard foam, the tri-wall cardboard to wrap them in, and packing the driver's in a separate foam lined box. Materials are going to run at least another $100, plus the time. In other words, it's alot of work and expense...and I wouldn't ship them with any less protection. You could hire someone from Craters and Freighters. It might be cheaper, but if they don't do the job I described then you're likely going to get frozen drivers or detached PRs. Of course, you might get lucky in having them packed minimally...it happens...but the transporation business is subject to Murphy's Law more than most.

Plus SRS2s are considered a slight uptick to 1Cs (room dependent), not night and day.

I don't disagree that the SDAs are troublesome to ship. However I paid 1100 for a pair of SDAs plus shipping, which was between 2 & 3 hundred at the time. They were packed into their original packaging and palletized, flat on their backs, and there was no problem.

I guess from all the horror stories, I'm lucky.

That's a great price on those. I'd grab them if I were anywhere within a day's driving.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...
