Hey guys,
As many of you know I'm a major newb to Vinyl. Using a TT as a playback instrument offers an incredibly intimate experience with not only the music but the ritual necessary to play that first note.
I am a mega-tweaker. I am constantly looking to make changes to my system to achieve that most perfect sound.
So, because I notice a bit of a collapsed midrange with some of my records compared to my CDs, I decided to check my TT to make sure it was setup to spec. Guess what! IT wasn't! Despite the great sound it's been making, I misread the conversion with my stylus force gauge that left my system all outta wack. Also, my TT wasn't completely level!!!
After remedying each of these newb screw-ups, my system is truly playing the best sound I have ever heard in my man lair.
Moral of the Story = Check your work!!!

If you have a new cartridge you should check your tracking force after 30 hours of play. The cantilever loosens up and you need to check.

See these are the things that I would have never considered.

I'm going to check my system once a week until it really starts to settle in.

You need to check the VTA also.
