I got some of this the other day in some Mexican food resturant in a bottle and WOW! It tasted like Coke used to taste years ago, Before the "New Coke" controversy. Much better than its chemical cousin theyre passing off as Coke over here, and no HFCS.

I had some in China made from the old sugar cane recipe. It was amazing. In fact, I think it was at a McDonalds over there.

It tastes so much better! I get it here at a grocery store called Valli Produce. As far as cola is concerned, I drink it exclusively now. Once you get used to it, the Coke that restaurants serve tastes like syrup!/COLOR] My Rigs [COLOR="Red" Balanced Audio Technology | Revel | Dodd | Monarchy | PS Audio | MIT | Polk | Etc.

long story on that one but the short is that you can blame bad economy, in 1981, a few very bad years for sugar production and about 1.2 billion chineseThe Gear... Add to that the cost of shipping glass bottles is considerably higher than plastic and you have the reason that Coke is done different here.
It's not laws, it's not marketing, it's money.
Personally, I'd pay a higher price for the old stuff and glass is way more environmentally friendly than plastic.
Besides, glass bottles would do way more to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. What you lose in shipping fuel would not come anywhere close to the amount needed for plastics production.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

I believe we can thank the wisdom of our great imperial leaders for having the crappy soda while the rest of the worls enjoys the real tasty treats. On a similar not, Budwieser in Ireland is quite good and drinkable, unlike it's American namesake. There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

They sell cases of them at my Costco. I pick one up every once in awhile. Definitely can taste the difference.... much better.

Welcome to the "free" country where government controls how your coke tastes. It's ironic that the rest of the world gets the real thing while we have to settle for a substitute.
It all dates back to 1982 and to a company called ADM that created HFCS. It's not that HFCS is cheaper than sugar as it is not, but there is a quota limit on how much sugar can be imported to US. That of course jacks up the price to artificially high, too high to be used on soft drinks. -

we have roach coaches that come to our work that carry it. been too scared to try it.

Oh yes....it was so good that I kept the glass bottle, which contributes to the great taste IMHO. -

Hmmm.... I'll be in China in 5 days, so I'll check out the Coke there. I don't remember it being different than in the US. In Mexico, though, even the diet Coke rocks! I like diet Coke in Mexico better than regular Coke here.HT
