I have gone over several pages of threads and cannot find one regarding the parts needed to upgrade the crossovers for the SDA-1c. I would like to use the best stuff available, and also go thru the wiring as well, upgrading to higher quality wires...
any inputs for this or should I just shoot them to B:Den

thanks for the quick response... my trouble though is that I do not have a clue as to what should be replaced on the boards... when it comes to reading the schematic, I just dont understand what all the stuff is, or what the proper name is for any of it. I also do not know what new values are being applied during the upgrade process....

    Per speaker:
1 high quality 12uf film cap
1 high quality 4.4uf film cap
    1 20uf film cap
    1 40uf film cap
    2 7.5ohm resistor
    1 2.7ohm resistor

Can you solder? What's your budget?

Hey, you said open budget. :D

For the 12uf and 4.4uf I would source them from here: http://soniccraft.com/sonicaps.htm As I mentioned above, Sonic Craft will also have the resistors you need.

For the 20uf and 40uf, those Daytons are fine.

If you don't have one already, pick up a hot glue gun to secure the caps to the board, just don't go overboard.

What do you use to drive your 1C's? If you're using a good amp, you can bypass the poly switches.

Hey if you buy 10 you can save some coin:)

Yes bypass the Poly Switches if you have some self control.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

self control... is that not having to get up in the middle of the nite to make a pit stop, or is that keeping the volume down a bit? If its the latter I am screwed

I will if you will. We could do a coordinated effort and see how it goes. I wanted Ben to do mine but just can't afford it right now but I do know how to solder and use to be able to read schematics.

If you truly cannot keep the volume down, maybe leaving the poly's in and replacing them might be safer.

If you can't afford me I feel for ya:p If you are comfortable soldering there is plenty of help here. Best advice is do one at a time. Also don't cut any of the leads off till everything is fitted.
    Enjoy
