I did a search and only found three threads. None of which contained what I was looking for..

So.....

Can you guys tell me what KT88 tubes you have tried and the nature of the tube?

I have a pair of Winged C's right now and I'm not sure there what I am looking for. Excellent midrange and highs aren't too bad. But there's no bottom to them at all. Might be my setup or amp. But would still like to roll some other tubes to find out. I have heard others talk of the KT88 winged C's not having any bottom or top end.. So I am wondering if its my tubes. I plan to roll more tubes regardless. I would just like to get a better feel for a tube before I buy it.

Any information will be appreciated.

Bob Carver's new tube amps and they sounded absolutely stellar. Overall a well balanced tube IMO. I also heard them on Jolida mono blocks and was equally impressed. I will hear more later this year on two different amps [not mentioned yet] but that won't be until around summertime. The sound stage and the way the speakers were "lost" in the room were the best attribute of these tubes beyond the overall sound.

    What?

Are you talking about Bob Carvers tube amps? Or does Bob Carver make tubes?

I'm only interested in KT88 tubes. I already have a sweet little SET KT88 amp.

I'm basically looking for reviews on KT88 tubes from forum members.

Oh, sorry. Allow me to clarify. Bob's amps and the Jolida mono's I heard both had KT-88 tubes in them. He doesn't make tubes but I do know he has many of the KT-88's on hand. I believe that's what he put in the famed Silver Six, Seven and Nine series amplifiers.

Tungsols or Shuguangs sound best, IMO. I use Tungsols in my monos.

I have Mullard XF-2's in my Dynaco and the bottom end is more than ample
. I'm not sure but I think these can be replaced for KT-88.
