Grounding an sx-950

Hello
Probably a no brainer, I'm guessing it would be worth it to run a ground wire to the ground lug on this receiver....
They only used a two prong plug on this receiver.
Thanks

most older stereo equipment only has two prong plugs. that was the standard when that receiver was built. in my two channel only rig. all of my gear is two prong... it is what it is..
are you getting a hum or buzz? If not, why ground it?PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I haven't gotten it back from the place thats restoring it. Was just doing some more preliminary work before it came back and was going to put a ground rod in the basment if you guys thought it was worth it.....Testing

I've spoken to McIntosh techs about adding a ground to some of my older equipment, both times I've been told, "if it didn't come with one, don't add one, you're just asking for problems"."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Exactly Face. If anything maybe add a cheater if the plug is polarized--and I doubt it is.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Say you might have misunderstood me. I didn't mean adding a ground to the power cord, that was just some added info that it was a two prong.
Theres a separate connection on the back of the receiver that you can run a ground wire to an earth ground.
According to the manual:
For maximum safety and to eliminate noise, connect the GND terminal to an earth ground if at all possible.
The turntable has a ground wire too so I don't really see anywhere else that the receiver would be grounded other then through that separate wire. It would seem pointless or defeat the purpose of hooking up the turntable ground wire otherwise...Testing

if it has a separate ground wire connection.. run it.. couldn't hurt anything.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Exactly. Most TTs come with a ground wire hanging out, while most receivers with a phono in have a ground lug to secure the wire.
Is an 'earth' ground required? Beats me!
