Looking to upgrade sub

System specs in my sig, looking to upgrade my sub and looking for recommendations. Used mainly for HT with some music thrown in. Mostly alt-country/Alternative music.
Any other additions/replacements I should make to my system? Have been considering an amp but really have no clue as to where to start.
Any/all comments welcome.

Many many options out there some more info from you will help. What budget are you working with, room size (WxLxH), any openings to other rooms, any physical size restrictions of the sub or WAF considerations such as the finish on the sub. Highly recommended brands are SVS, HSU, Epik, Ed, Velodyne, Rythmik, Polk DSW line to name a few.

Budget would be anywhere in the $500-1000, and would like to maximize cost/benifit. The room would be a living room approx 12x20 with a vaulted ceiling. End of the room is open to the kitchen area. No size restrictions on the sub, other than that would probably prefer the sub to be black but not a necessity. Thanks for the help.Polk Speakers

That's a pretty good sized room that will eat up most of your budget to get really good bass. But I think it can be done.
Do some research on these:
Epik Dragon
Ed A-750
SVS PB12+
HSU ULS 15
HSU VTF-3
Or maybe 2 of these Polk DSW Pro 500 -

For a bit over 500, if you wanted to go cheap you could get 2 Polk PSW505s. They're not bad and 2 might do it even in that room. They're selling these things online for less than 300 a piece with shipping?
Of course some of the higher priced subs above are great suggestions!

Two 505s stacked will give you lots of LFE vibration (which is a must for me on action movies).

I really like the idea of the 2 505's and for some reason love the idea of sticking with Polk. What's the consensus on the Micropro's? Would it make any sense to try and swing a MicroPro 2000?Polk Speakers

You would need to consider the fact that the room is opened up to the kitchen, I would go all out and add a couple bucks and order a SVS PB13 Ultra and be done with it.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Hi Eugene,
Both www.onecall.com and www.jr.com are offering them for about 249 plus shipping. And that's a pretty darned good deal. I got my Boston HPS12HO 300watt 12" sub from onecall which compares favorably IMHO with the PSW505 which I was also considering at onecall for a bit less than that with free shipping (as a one time special) Fed EX--double boxed--no damage of any kind. Otherwise I would've gotten myself the 505. That's a really nice sub for less than half its MSRP.
