Pre-Amp question

I have posted many thoughts on getting a new power amp.
How much does the pre-amp part of a receiver matter.
I have a Pioneer 92 Elite with pre-outs. Is the pre-amp that important? I'm only intersted in a 2 channel amp. Is the Pioneer 92 Elite good enough?

Look into separate 2 channel amps with HT Bypass for the best of both worlds."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
Are you wanting HD Audio, Audyssey, etc? If so, do not believe there are too many available.

HT Bypass is a function of a preamp that lets the signal pass right through to the amp without modification. This is useful in combined HT and 2-channel systems so that you can fully calibrate the levels on your receiver for HT, and then easily switch between dedicated 2-channel listening and HT without having an extra component in the signal path.
When I'm listening to 2-channel, my receiver is off and it's just CD -> Pre -> Amp.
When I'm using HT, my receiver is on and my pre-amp is in Bypass mode and it's DVD -> Receiver -> Pre (bypass) -> Amp.Speakers: Polk LSi15
Pre: Adcom GFP-750 with HT Bypass
