Hey all,

Within the next week or so I will be completing my first HT. 5.1 channels to be exact. With that in mind, I will be needing a new DVD to try it all out.

What is your favorite DVD for 5.1 surround sound? I was thinking about getting the deluxe edition of Terminator 2. Anyone familiar with that one?

Good demo classics for me: Matrix, Gladiator, U-571, Jurassic Park III (careful of your sub on that one), Eagles Hell Freezes Over is a good music demo. The DTS (audio only) of Seven Bridges Road on the Eagles disc can be chilling, with a capella voices coming from all speakers.

And remember the best system improvement is a few Henrys Ales before you get started... or Widmer Hefe, or Full Sail Amber, or Black Butte Porter, or... :D

No, these beers should be unheard of down south. Dylan and I are from the NW side of the country.

Sorry, Shizelbs and I mentioned northwest beers on a whole other thread. I've had a long couple weeks at work, and it's easy to derail my brain to beer at any given moment. Like now, I'm thinking of the 1/2 gallon 'growler' from the local brewery for Friday... ;) </derail>

A newer disc that caught my ear's attention that really takes use of the full 6-channel experience is **** with Vin Diesel. The title is appropriate....all action--no substance...basically a porno without the nudity. Acoustically cool tho.

must pick up Saving Private Ryan...opening scene is enough to make your eardrums rattle for a while...also try Blade I and II..also Reign of Fire...the Jurassic Parks are the best I think especially part III...

I would have to second the Matrix, and add The Fifth Element to the list.

T2 Deluxe has excellent sound. The start of the movie will wet your ears. My favorite part is when one of the robots turn towards the camera and starts shooting! Your rears will rock!

    Here are my choices:

    -Armagedon (Criterion) - A must!!!
    -The Rock (Criterion) - Excellent
-Black Hawk Down - Mentioned, but nothing like it
-Pearl Harbor - Own both editions. Director's cut with DTS RULES!
    -Gladiator - Excellent. DTS again!
-LOTR - I won both. Extended edition with DTS the best.
-Saving Private Ryan - No comment!
-Blade 2 - Has been mentioned
-Star Wars episodeI & II - ok movie, good sound.
-Disneys Trazan, Monster Inc. and Lilo & Stich
-Band of Brothers - 10 hours of good stuff!
    -Apollo 13
    -Spiderman

Man, out of over 150 dvds those are the only ones that come to mind! Getting old! Darn! Today i get Road to perdition and Stargate Ultimate edition. Lets see how that goes.

    Enjoy T2

    Hey all,

Been a few days since I posted anything. I've been too busy playing with my new system to frequent the forum. Anyways, I just got done watching the Special Edition of Terminator 2. It was phenomenal. So far it gave the best presentation over my 5.1 system. It was just awesome. Watched Jurassic Park also. It was very good, but T2 has set the standard for excellence. Just incredible.
