Thanks again to all who posted with help/info.

I got the SDA 2As from Disc Jockey here on the Classified. He was teriffic...letting me hook up a TT and play some LPs to see how they worked...they did:D.

Home now and deciding how to arrange things, wishing I had the cable(it's ordered) so I could play DSOTM and a few other LPs that arrived in the mail today to get the dimensional array effect. Doesn't sound bad on the RTA 8t but knowing what sound I'll get from the SDAs leaves me wanting.

    Thanks, Disc Jockey.

It was a very nice visit with Preston this morning, and having a little "old school" hooked in to the system.

If you have some spare smaller gauge speaker wires handy, you can use that until the cable comes in. Just make sure the same wire goes in the large slot on one speaker and the small slot on the other. Let us know when you get it all hooked up.

I addition to the other setup advice you got here, there's a couple things I forgot to tell you. The speakers should be parallel to each other, no toe-in. Also, the closer the speakers are to the rear wall, the more bass you'll get. If you get them too close, the bass might get boomy on you.

Wow. I woulda bought this in a heartbeat if I had got on on time. I have an aunt who lives in Colorado and even drives into California every six months or so. Woulda asked her to pick it up for me. Hahaha!

    Thanks all...

I'm in Colorado and these(2s) are somewhat local and were on CL. I'm out aways form the metro area and it's "an hour to most anywhere".

I did see where a member has the 2As in the for sale section on here and has done some work upgrading them. They are $275, are dinged up and don't have the interconnect. Not sure I want someone elses project!

The 2s I called about are $350 and listed with the orginial boxes, manuals and the interconnect. He says they are black(which I'd prefer...but I doubt that as I have not seen any ads with them in black. They are closer!

There was another pair for $200 with a Yamaha amp for $200, I emailed but suspect they're gone as I havn't heard back:(

A question for those who have these SDA, will the bass be better than what I'm getting from my RTA 8t?

    Thanks again, Preston

Are you in CO???, nooshinjohn, if you are and missed those, sorry.

These SDA 2As that Disc Jockey worked over are just wonderful...DSOTM playing now, SOUNDS GREAT:D:eek::D.

I'm going to need more AMP...cranked the HK 3490 up to 0 dB on it's display and it went into protect mode:eek:. For now at 10 - 15 dB it seems happy.

    I know I am. Preston

Correction... the HK 3490 is not happy and has shut off twice now...heated that puppy right up:mad:.

Ahhhh, he was a victim of my bad advice. I should have checked the schematics first. Reversed the speaker wires and all is well. I didn't think there was any reason his HK should go into protect like that otherwise. Sorry about that Preston.

you know you can listen to the SDA's without the cable too. they sound just fine.. nothing wrong at all. the cable just enhances the SDA effect..

Too late. I told him the same thing but he was jonesing to listen to his new (and existing) vinyl with the full sda effect. I know the feeling :D

One of the albums he brought over was the original Swedish version of Jazz at the Pawnshop, which he got for $1  , would have liked to hear more of that one.

First off there is no SDA effect w/o the cable. Second off, people eat cake w/o frosting too..............that's just not right. Get the cable.......use the cable:D:):p

First, what NJPolker said...take your time.

I'm not sure why your Hafler was acting up unless it's not a common ground amp. The blade portion should be totally dead...just an anchor...shouldn't effect the sound or signal at all. Just use the RCA cable. It's all you need.
