Hey New Polk Owner here (Psw-125 Content)

Hi, i just bought a PSW125 today from the circuit city in my town, As you know they have seen better days, and $150.00 was a deal i just couldnt pass up. Ok, now, i have tried hooking it up to different stuff, and i was wondering what is a nice way to get a good setup without breaking the bank? I have a lot of background in audio and televisions from my experience of working at sears for years. I just want to know what you would recommend. Here is what i currently have at my disposal. I have 4 Sony box speakers, some high end speaker cable, a switch box, a rca to headphone cable, and an old rca stereo system which i am currently using to plug in the speakers and it doubles as a amp for me. Would it work if i just plugged the speakers into the back? I know this is how you normally hookup a system, but i new integrated systems such as this. So, if you could help me know what you know, and this website is awesome by the way. thanks again. Sorry for the run on sentences by the way.

Thanks,
Phil

I think that sub has line level inputs for speaker wire and outputs. Take some wire from the RCA stereo L/R channels and hook them to the inputs on the Polk. Then hook your stereo speakers to the line OUT on the Polk. Adjust the sub volume knob to about 12 o'clock. Turn the sub-cut off frequency to FULL or 150hz.

Hopefully the ohms on your RCA and the Polk are compatible.

    Good Luck...

welcome to the Jedi Temple young padawan... here you will learn the ways of the force and how to wield it wisely. I don't know where to begin with this one so I will start by asking what type of system are you trying to build? Are you seeking 2 channel or a HT setup?

If you're building a HTheater system you need a minimum of a Surround sound AVReceiver 5.1-7.1 channels, that would have a dedicated RCA out for the Polk sub LFE in.

It sounds to me, that what you have is a STEREO receiver with two speakers and no dedicated sub channel out. Hence you would need to wire the receiver L/R directly to the Polk sub and the speakers to the outs as I describe above.

In other words you have a few more wires to connnect than just a sub-cable. I assume there is no SUB-out on your RCA stereo....right?

A Home theater receiver will power 5-7 independent speakers and supply a signal for a powered sub like your Polk (the .1 part in 5.1, 7.1).

    Hope that helps.

    Hi 111.

cnh was shoveling snow all day yesterday so he forgot to ask the usual questions ;):

    > what is your goal - surround sound home theater, stereo music or both?

    > What is the make, model and age of your stereo receiver?

    > What is the model and age of your speakers?

    > Do you have all 4 speakers hooked up now?

    > Do your speakers have a label on the back that gives the ohm rating (would be 4, 6 or 8)?

    > Can you shoot a closeup digital photo of the rear of your receiver and post it here?
