Bedroom speakers VM10? RTIA1?
Hey guys,
I have been using some crappy Altec Lansing 3.1 PC Speakers as my bedroom speakers for watching tv on my projector. One of them quit working and instead of buying more pc speakers I was thinking of buying a cheap receiver and some RTiA1s then I saw the VM10s. They are about the same price on the refurb ebay site. Which ones would be better for my situation? I am not planning on adding a sub or anymore speakers to the setup. I just want some decent speakers with a small footprint.

The VM's are kinda what I'm planning on when I upgrade bedroom HT rig. Probably VM-20's for the fronts/center and VM-10's in the back. Possibly with a MicroPro 1000 sub. I won't be upgrading the bedroom rig for a few years yet though, so those plans could end up changing.
They're both good speakers though. Go and listen to them both if you have a chance. They have very different sounding tweeters. The RTi A1's are going to have a little bit more low end extension than the VM10's, but using a sub that shouldn't really be an issue.
The VM10's do definitely have a smaller footprint though, which you said you were looking for.
I take it from you screen name that you have a TransAm? What year? I've got a 1990 Formula 350 5 speed here. The nirvana inducer-

I use RTi4's (basically same as RTi A1) with an HK AVR-140 on my computer and it works great. Beats any computer speakers by a mile. I have a pair of RTi6's for sale in case you are interested... basically brand new... let me know.KEF Q150 | Rythmik F12 | Yamaha Aventage RX-A780

I'd take the rti a1's over the vm10's.

I ended up getting the vm10's and a Marantz sr4002 receiver.
I will probably get bored and add some vm20's for the front and use the vm10s in the back and get a psw400 for my main rig and use the psw111 in the bedroom.
I spent $230 on the Marantz and $175 for the vm10's/ not bad.Adcom GFP-750
