LSi's for HT
Read a recent thread indicating LSi's better for music than HT. Any LSi 15 or LSi 9 users have any input regarding how these speakers perform in an HT environment? Our application will be mostly HT but will also enjoy listening to Blueray HD Audio/Video concerts. Thanks for your input.........

Yes they're great for both music and HT. They're considered laid back speakers which alot of people like for music.

My personal opinion is a good speaker while shine in both HT and in music. I never really understood the logic that a speaker might be good at music but inferior for HT, or vice-versa. If a speaker is only doing a good job of reproducing a limited frequency range it is not a very good speaker. This logic sort of reminds me of the "rock" versus "classical" speaker nonsense during the 70s.
My HT consists of 4 LSi15s, LSiC, and a PSW-1000. Currently, the speakers are attached to a Sunfire TGA-5400 amp, and in my mind it sounds great for both HT and music. The other night I watched "the Dark Knight" with the sub turned off, and the bass was still powerful. I also occasionally use this system for SACD/CD playback and love it. No complaints in regard to the sound of music.
You are going to get a lot of responses telling you that you need an external amp for LSi speakers, and it is true that these, or any speaker, will sound better with more power. However, before I got the Sunfire I was using a Sony DA-7100ES AVR, and it sounded great. Of course, the Sunfire does sound better.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

All LSi here as well. Two 15s, a C and two F/X. I do more HT than music mostly because I'm in an apartment and can't crank it up for music like I would like. I have both BR and HD DVD and both sound great. Haven't got any BR concerts yet but I do have a few HD concerts and the sound is great.

I too am all LSi and love them for HT. 95% of the time my system is used for HT. Moving to separates a little over a month ago improved things more than I could have imagined. Every time I watch Blu-Ray movies like Transformers at reference levels, I just sit there and smile. My system sounds better than my local theaters!HT Setup

I could be wrong here, but I think when people say that the LSi are better for music than for HT what they mean is that the improvement over say the RTi line is more evident for music than for HT.
BTW, I have 7's, 9's, and 15's and love them. Concert DVD's are awesome.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -

Many people consider Lsi to be better for music because of its relative laid back nature, as opposed to a brighter more forward speaker some prefer for HT.
Also, the LSi is not the easiest line in the planet to drive. only beefy amplification need apply, many recievers will not cut the mustard and seperate good quality amplification is the way to go, which represents an additional investment some might not want to deal with.
that said, I have an all LSi theater and would have to spend an obscene amount of money to get a significant improvement. I am happy as an effing clam with my set up. to me, it was worth the effort across the boardLiving Room 2 Channel -

They sound good with music. Can't imagine it would be any different for a h/t application. The whole "music" line and "home theater" line of speakers sounds like marketing jabberwocky to me. Either a speaker sounds good to your ears, or it doesn't.

I believe that the LSI's sound better in a HT setting.
They just seem to be missing a tiny bit of something that I can't put my finger on.
I will be doing the XO upgrade ( with help of course ) soon so I hope this will solve the problem.
