I am looking for a CDP preferably around $150.00 shipped but will go as far as $250 for the right player...

I am looking for something with tubes. Shanling T80, Bada HD22, AH! new tube 4000, 99, Jolida JD100..... Something along these lines..

I am also open to solid state players as long as it is fairly new.. One SS CDP I am interested in trying is a Consonance CD120 linear but as I said I am open to others.

Please let me know what you have.

Thanks

Nick

Probably not in your price range....

I was just hoping someone could help a brother out with a great deal...

No thanks. I am using a Toshiba HD dvd player right now and it would beat the snot of an Oppo...

The only down fall of the Toshiba is it's noisy as hell. Plus its my dvd player and I need in back in my entertainment center..

What do you guys think of the Music Hall 25 ? I can get one for $250 shipped.. But I didn't think it was worth that much. What do you guys think? Should I pick it up?

The Music Hall got great reviews. I was considering it at one time. For 1/3rd of its original retail price I don't think you could go wrong plus there are tons of companies that do mods to it. One that comes to mind is Underwood HiFi.

I'm afraid you'll be looking a long time for one of those players in the $150.00/250.00 range.

There's a Adcom gcd-575 near me. The guys wants $50. He said last time he had it hooked up last year it skipped. But since he pulled it out of storage it hasn't. He also noted when it skipped he had it placed directly on the speakers top. The vibration could have caused it to skip IMO. He has the receipt, manual, and remote. It's in perfect condition.
May be worth a shot for $50.

What the crap does that mean!!! "Ronco it" Everybody keeps saying it on the board and I have no idea what it means...

I know the prices weren't realistic. Those were just examples of what I am looking for. I've seen some go for that price. I seen a Ah new tube 4000 sell for $150 on A-gon the other day. It had a dent or a ding or something. It must have been on there a whole 60 seconds because I have been watching a-gon like a hawk and I was too late.. I've seen some Rotel RCD1072's go for $250 on A-gon. I just can't catch the great deals..

Thats why I posted a hell mary wanted ad on the board.. I am tired watching a-gon every ten minutes 7 days a week and then missing a great deal by minutes..

Audiobliss has a Rotel RCD-02. I think I'll get in touch with him and see what he'll take for it..

After that I don't know. Maybe I'll just wait until I can get what I want.. Work gets going pretty good in the spring and from then on out. I just wanted to get something in here to hold me over..

"Ronco used to hold the trademark on the phrase "set it and forget it", used in the commercials for the Showtime Rotisserie Grill. The phrase has gone on to be used in popular culture, including an episode of the comedy news program The Daily Show."

"Ronco it"...In other words....Do whatever and and thats the end of it...nothing else to do.

the 855 was,,in it's day,,respectable to say the least. It's a very good ss player,, and the folks at Musical Concepts/Designs can really make it sing,, of course,,after they have "ronco'd " it.;):)

I'm talking to Audiobliss right now about buying his Rotel RCD-02. If it falls through I might just pick up the 855.

I just picked up the Rotel 855 on ebay.

I think I'll listen to it for a little while. Then see about modding it myself and putting some tubes in it. Might make for one heck of a player for not much money..

The rotel 855 is not a tubed player. In the early ninties it was highly regarded. I have one, still use it frequently, very dependable little player, paid 100 bucks for it.

No tubes in it. But.... Since I am in to the DIY thing right now. I don't see any problems with modding it to have a tube output, among other things..

From the reviews I've read its a solid player and responds well to mods..

I got the 855 today and all I can say is wow. What an over achiever it is... I'm very impressed so far. I never expected a 20 year old $100 CDP to sound so good.. I was going to Mod it when I got it. But I feel no need to. At least not for awhile. I'm quite happy with it and figure no use messing with a good thing. Its nice to know though that if I get tired of it I can Modify it and take it to another level...

I might add that it looks like it did when new. Mint....

    Thanks for the recommendation.;)

I grabbed one of those Adcom GCD-575 single disc machines for $2 at a yard sale last summer. According to the keeper of the castle (in his finest bathrobe), "If it's the 5 disc Sony it's $5."

One of those yard sales where everything else in the yard combined was not worth the $2 I paid for the immaculate Adcom. A real head scratcher.
