Dont see these a bunch......

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/ele/1053905474.html

Older model, better quality than some newer editions. Polk SDA-SRS (stereo dimensional array-signature reference system) SRS 3.1TL floor-standing speakers, right and left channel, bi-ampable. 4 mid-range, 1 dome tweeter, 1 cancellation speaker (right or left), and a 12" woofer in each. Has an "umbilical" connecting cord. Each speaker is 4 feet high, 16 inches wide, and 13 inches deep and has oak trim. New models retail in the range of $1295 for each speaker. Asking $500 for the pair. Very good condition with the exception of a small blemish on the back corner of the oak trim on one speaker. This is not very noticeable, however, due to the location, but I felt it should be disclosed to be fair. Selling due to down-sizing. I would appreciate serious inquiries only please. Will accept cash payment only. Please see stock photo below for same cabinet style.

NOT TRUE!!! Sometimes they are on the far east coast.:D But of course, NEVER in the midwest.

Truth be told, there are 2 pairs of sda 2B's AND a pair of 2.3's within driving distance as I scribble this out. 'Course, "driving distance" varies from person to person.

They sound great. The mid-range is very similar to the 2.3TLs so if you are into acoustic stuff, jazz, female (or male) vocals, light classical, blues, or country stuff in a smaller-type room you would be extremely happy with these. They differ (mainly) from the bigger boys in sound stage (more narrow) and overall bass (very tight however). The closest I could come to a similar "sound" would be SDA 1C's. It would be a close call.

Mike Reeter put it best, "a lotta speaker for 5 bills".

I still have a set of these that I purchased new around 1990. I have upgraded the Xovers but I am still running the original tweeters. I also have an upgraded pair of 1.2's not tl's. I love the sound from the 3/1tl's. I did a side by side comp with the 1.2's and they held up nicely. The soundstage was narrower and not as deep and the bass was definitely less but they are great musically. Really clean, articulate and responsive on all types of music. For five hundred bucks they would be an outstanding buy. I run them beautifully with a Denon 5700 AVR. I think it's rated at 170 wpc @ 8 ohms. They sound fantastic to my ears, and when hooked up to the sunfire (425 wpc) during the side by side they were outstanding. FWIW I can highly recommend them especially after the Xover upgrade ( done by Ben ).

I saw the ad too, there's also a pair of CRS+ floating around for $150 or was it 2As(?). Anyway, the bay area does seem to be a deal mecca for SDAs vs the rest of the country.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

I think that fits. The SDA's are definitely not a conservative-type speaker so would that make them liberal. Maybe that analogy is better left alone.
