Picked up my Maggie 1.5's in San Anton today. Very preliminary introduction, but it looks like they and the SRS's are going to compliment each other very nicely.
SRS's appear set to rule Pop/ Rock (kicked Maggie's **** on Deee Lite) and anchor my HT...
Maggie appear primed to rule acoustic jazz (detail and soundstage for Brubeck is amazing).
Full symphonic classical yet to be explored (but Maggie was superlative on Pachelbel's Canon)...
Here's a side by side shot of the new roomies.
I think they make a nice couple...
More later,
Tour...

Where are you at Tour2ma? We had an Austin meet last year, it was sweet. You should come to the next one ;)

Nice speaks, but I just can't get into the Maggies... dunno what it is really...

    Tour,

    VERY cool!

I'm giving some serious thought to adding a pair of MMG's when I get home.

    Steve,
Thanks and will do… SA – Austin – Houston (me) wherever… Saw y’all’s discussion back in Oct, ’02… just I didn’t join the Club until Dec.
I can understand your reservations. IMO Maggies aren’t an all purpose speaker; not enough bottom for rock, etc. Polk beats them there. My SRS’s are a better “overall” speaker. Also the Maggies are not easy to live with (positioning call s for 3’ from the back wall to start with).
But where I mentioned things they do better than my SRS’s, their advantages are clear. I used Brubeck when I auditioned the 1.6’s. When I heard the alto sax moving in a 1’circle as Paul Desmond moved while hitting various notes, my jaw hit the floor. I never heard that before. But I heard it again last night. Their soundstage is fantastic.

    Troy,
Thanks also. Fact is you get part credit for my Maggies. Saw your post discussing your thinking about the MMG’s a while back. It reminded me about how impressed I was with the Maggies when I last heard them many years ago. These popped up on e-bay, I ran to local dealer and auditioned the 1.6’s (awesome) and whala…
BTW the owner of the 1.5’s, and the mansion they were in (unbelievable 1940’s place in the “old money” section of SA), has moved up to the 3.6’s. He’s got an all Maggie HT that time prevented me from hearing, but I’m going back soon…

Aside: Coolest thing in the Maggie manual is this quote:
Caution- Caution- Caution: 6.b.) “For owners of CATS, We recommend cat repellant around the base of the speakers.”
I had to lol at that one…
    More later,
    Tour...

The local dealer (in Charleston, not here!) has a pair of 3.6's that I have spent a good deal of time with and I absolutely love 'em. He also has the 1.6's in from time to time, I've listened to them a good bit as well. IMO, the 3.6's are better than the 1.6's, I don't know that they are 2000 dollars better (the cheapie that I am).

    Good on ya!

    Welcome to the Maggie's world.
Checkout the MUG (Maggie User's Group) site for more info and tweaks. http://www.integracoustics.com/MUG/MUG/
    My HT system is all Polks (RT16, RT35, CS275 & PSW120)
My stereo system is anchored by my modded MG12s.

    Troy,

I've visited www.omanaudio.com on the web... I think they carry the full line...

Didn't listen to the 3.6's or the MMG's, the 1.6's are great. Might be able to tell the 1.5's are down a step in a side-by-side, but hadn't heard a difference so far. Dealer I trialed at said the 1.6's jumped so far ahead they knocked the next highest speaker in the line out. But since I paid only a little over half the list for the 1.6’s, I’m happy. Clearly the 3.6's are designed to reach deeper and have a shot at being a full time speaker, but for now... (BTW “mint” 3.6's have already popped up on e-bay. A pair did not clear reserve at $2850... BIN was $3500.)

But final choice is, as always, how much do you want to pay for what service. Something you are already more than aware of judging from the DQ's and all.

    Tony,
Thanks for the Mug Link. Seller put me onto that as well. Only tweak I’m looking at right now is a sub-woofer pairing. Dealer told Vandersteins were the only ones fast enough to match the Maggies. But based on some input from Doc (after he stopped laughing), I think I’ll give SVS a shot at ‘em first.
    More later,
    Tour...
