HookedOnTronics...reliable?
I have found some good deals on HookedOnTronics.com, but I have never done business with them. I was wondering if anyone who has had experience with them could share them here. I trust you guys more than anything I could find on the web that may be biased one way or another. Thank you.

No one here has ordered from them? Maybe I should stay away then.

I haven't had any dealings with them, but looking on the net kind of gets my spider sense tingling.
On their web site, on their "Testimonial" page ( http://www.hookedontronics.com/show_testimonials.jsp ), they have a little blurb about themselves:
" The owners of HookedOnTronics have been in the consumer electronics business for over 30
years. We are selling online since the year 2001. "
Now, they're in the business of selling electronics, so they're not required to be English majors, but .......
Also found this link on a Google search:

At some point in time, HOT had posted this message on their website; not the most inspirational message for consumers, IMO.
There's a single Hookedontronics review on www.epinions.com, and it is negative.

Reviews on www.shopzilla.com are a little short of stellar:

Reviews on www.tomshardware.com appear to be a little better (4.78 out of 5.0 rating), but ...... again, the spidersense is tingling.

Tomshardware is a very reliable site, but ..... quite a number of "Reviews" are sent in by folks who became members on **** date, than submit a review on **** + 30 days. Not saying it is, but it could be a marketing ploy.
Hopefully, somebody on CP will have had some real world experience with hookedontronics. Until then, I'd suggest keeping your wallet in your pocket.Sal Palooza -
Hey bigblue, thanks for all info you provided. It definitely makes me think twice before dishing out $800 to them for a new receiver. Hopefully people who have had experience with them will post too. Can you or anyone else think of a good place where bargains can be had for new receivers? The one I am looking for is the Denon AVR 2809CI, but most places seem to sell it for the retail price of $1,200.

I bought something from them years ago - can't remember what exactly but it was no hassle.
Keep in mind people generally don't go and give an opinion when something turns out the way it is supposed to.
This is not an endorsement of this site. I'm just saying I used them without issue.Analog Source: Rega P3-24 Exact 2 w/GT delrin platter & Neo TT-PSU Digital Source: Lumin T2 w/Roon (NUC) DAC: Denafrips Pontus II Phono Preamp: Rega Aria MK3 Preamp: Rogue RP-7 Amp: Pass X150.8 Speakers: Joseph Audio Perspective 2, Audio Physic Tempo Plus Cables: Morrow M4 ICs & Audio Art SC-5 ePlus, Shunyata PCs Misc: Shunyata Hydra Delta D6, VTI rack, GIK acoustic panels
