    interesting thread...
I have fallen in love with the shear presence of the SDA line so any in this family are tops for me and my budget... cost no object? This is also quite easy for me, as back in the mid 80's I worked for Magnepan, and was able to audition a set of one-offs that became the basis for the tympany series. one key difference between the ones I heard and the production versions was that the bottom end was absolutely magnificent. they were bing driven by MASSIVE custom Mark Levinsons... to have this setup in my home is the ultimate audio wet dream
The Gear... Carver "Statement" Mono-blocks, Mcintosh C2300 Arcam AVR20, Oppo UDP-203 4K Blu-ray player, Sony XBR70x850B 4k, Polk Audio Legend L800 with height modules, L400 Center Channel Polk audio AB800 "in-wall" surrounds. Marantz MM7025 stereo amp. Simaudio Moon 680d DSD

I have only been a Polk owner for a few years now and been a member of this forum for a few months but have always been into audio and have owned some real top notch stuff. I really liked the Polk SDA line but was always out of reach. I have never seen such a following as I have with the Polk SDA line of speakers, You guys are hard-core!

What can I say I remember that set of infinities and that was also the time I began to think about Audio. I couldn't believe anyone could make a system that cost that much! It boggled my mind back then.

Oh well, I still can't afford anything like that but I enjoy listening to some of you describe the Heavenly End (not high end--since most of us can never reach it) of Audio.

There is a company right down the road in Boulder CO. that makes some of the best speakers on the plannet, I tried to get a job there and went on a tour of the place and they let me hear some of their Sentinel top of the line speakers. HOLLY S*&T! is all I can say, If money was no object I would certainly buy those. As I remember them telling me they were $140,000 a pair.

Best sounding, my custom Vifa/Seas speakers.

    Best looking, my Tannoy Ardens.

If money was no object, I would build something with Accutron drivers and Duelund guts.

I demo'd them at Gramophone in Columbia MD. The source was this http://www.mcintoshlabs.com/products/default.asp . Powered by 2 MC2KW (2000W RMS/ch, Peak of 8000W/ch) http://www.mcintoshlabs.com/products/mcintosh-mc2kw-2000-watt-reference-power-amplifier.asp. If I recall the total price for the system was $200,000.

I couldn't listen to my system for a week after that.

For me I guess the best (or most fun) I actually owned would have been the Infinity QLS I owned in 1988 just before I bought my 2.3TL's. They were used in a audio demo booth at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City around that time and had a couple of blown driver. Too much demo-ing I suspect. Anyway, the guy sold them to me for next to nothing. It took me 6 months to track down replacement drivers (no Internet in those days). Anyway, sold them in 1989 & bought the 2.3TL's which for me were the actual best sounding speakers next to and ahead of my current 1C's.

I have also owned some Maggie's and a pair of Martin Logan that were sweet.
