small or large, crossover setting

I have an Onkyo 806 with the TSI 300 fronts, with a psw303 sub and a cs 2 center with RTI6 surrounds. After reading too much, I am confused over settings. Front speaker large or small? crossover on receiver or the sub or both. What do I do?

Here's a great article on the subject. Great info...give it a try & see how you like it. http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/34579/128214.html

There really aren't too many true full range speakers out there.

Turn the crossover on the subwoofer all the way up to get it out of the way (so you don't cascade the two crossovers or induce unnecessary delay). Then set all speakers to 80Hz crossover and the LPF OF LFE to 120Hz. That should get things set up nicely.

Even if you run the Audyssey setup, you'll probably have to change the detected crossover settings, since Onkyo's implementation of Audyssey MultEQ XT calls anything that extends below 80Hz "FULL RANGE" (which it definitely isn't).

Alternately, you can try setting the crossovers based on the actual specs of each speaker. The TSi300 has a -3dB point of 47Hz, so a 70Hz crossover would work well with it (given a half-octave transition before the -3dB point). The CS2 and RTi6s are best left at 80Hz considering their spec'd -3dB points of 60Hz and 50Hz respectively.
    Equipment list:
    Onkyo TX-NR3010 9.2 AVR
    Emotiva XPA-3 amp
Polk RTi70 mains, CSi40 center, RTi38 surrounds, RTi28 rears and heights
SVS 20-39CS+ subwoofer powered by Crown XLS1500
    Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray player
    DarbeeVision DVP5000 video processor
    Epson 8500UB 1080p projector

This is a great link to small and large specker set up! Thanks for sharing it. I am new to surround sound set up and this makes a lot of sense
