Monster Power HTS 3600 MKII or HDP 2500?

Ok, I went to Circuit City for the going out of business sale and bought the HTS 3600 MKII power center. Brand new out of the box it did not work. The lights only blinked on and off, not even the voltage display would light up. I checked the outlet with a digital multi meter (DMM) for correct wiring and the outlet was wired correctly. Unfortunately the CC receipt had circled "No returns or exchanges." I called Monster they gave me an RMA to send the defective one back.
This week I received the new replacement HTS 3600. When I plugged the unit in all the OK lights were fine and the voltage varied between 121 ~ 123V. I only plugged my receiver into the receiver switched outlet on the back. The power center worked for maybe an hour and then only the switched outlets would keep turning off. The voltage looked fine even using my separate DMM. I tried turning the power center on again, but the switched outlets only stayed on for 5 mins.
Monster is sending me a shipping label to return this 2nd defective unit back. I've read plenty of good things about this unit, and wonder if it is just me having bad luck with these units. So, Monster Cable gave me the option to replace this defective unit with a HDP 2500 or another HTS 3600. Is one of these units better than the other from personal experience? I'd like to keep a power center b/c I did notice the difference in filtering the power.
Thanks,
Tom

That is an interesting choice they gave you. The HTS 3600 looks to be a superior unit. I picked up a HTS 3600 MKII from CC and it works great. I do seem to notice an improvement in SQ using this unit. I'd try another, 3rd time lucky you know.Stan

I'm guessing your just having Bad Luck. I have the 3600 MKII and a Pro 3500. Never had a any problem with either of them. They have performed well thru the power surges and outages we have around here.
With the exception of the HDP 2500 having USB ports on the front for charging things, I think I would prefer the 3600 myself.
Wishing better luck with your next one, which everone you choose.
