I'm trying to determine if I have a problem or not.

Do any of you find your sub shutting itself off when it's in auto sense mode even though music is playing? Because that is what is happening to me. If a song then comes on with a heavier bass line it will turn itself back on.

Is it really that unsensitive? Is there anyway of getting around this other than always leaving the sub on.

I don't recall that ever happening to me, but I always kept mine on Cathy.

    that's not right

might try turning up the sub level on the Sunfire, and the Polk level down, so more signal is going to the sub and maybe it will stay awake.

How do you have the sub hooked up? To a receiver? What do you have the crossover frequency set at? If it's low (i.e. 40-60) then maybe the music you are playing just doesn't have bass that low for a stretch of time and therefore the sub isn't being called into action?

I would have thought the time-out value on the sub shutting down would have been high enough for this not to happen though

Dang Cathy...my one Velo is doing the same thing, the other Velo is working fine.

The LED light comes on...but it's not playing (if I crank the volumn it will come on) or it will play & cut off while the other one is still playing. I contacted Velo & they had me raise the master sub volumn up to 75% (+9) on my NAD AVR & then calibrate the sound down w/ SPL meter. They thought it wasn't getting enough signal. That didn't work so the amp has to be sent back to Velo for repair. They said it sounds like a bad sensor. Minor repair that only takes two days at Velo. At least I still have the other one to hold me over. Hopefully your's is ok.

Are you using a decent cable? I had a similar problem with a cheapo cable AR cable from Best Buy. Replacing it with a cable from BJC resolved it. I assume the cheapo had too much resistance. The other suggestion above about raising the level out on your pre/pro and lowering the level on your sub can also fix the problem.

Yeah I have a Monster cable that I got years ago & I'm using an old Radio Shack cable for my Boston sub.

I'm going to go get 2 new sub cables this weekend & give those a shot first.

Unless someone here has some they want to sell. I need at least a 10 foot one & a 6 foot one.

Is there a left and right input for LFE on that sub? You could always try a Y-cable at the sub itself. 2-male to a single female. It would add a little boost to the signal at the sub amp and might help. Wouldn't hurt to try.

Running two subs off of one line out is contributing to your issue.

I think turning up sub setting on your processor and adjusting volume on the sub amp accordingly is going to be the best solution here. not enough signal when volume is low with little bass to keep the sub amp on.

I had that problem with my diy sub waaaay back in the day when I first hooked it up. i tweaked the settings according and havent had a problem since. lets say if your sub volume is past 11:00, it's definitly what the problem is

Lou, my subs never go past 11, most times they sit around 9-10.

The problem usually happens when my volume is low in the mornings & nights as to not disturb my neighbors.

I have two sub cables from Signal, one around 15 feet, the other around 20. PM if interested. These have been used about 2 months before I moved into a dedicated theater room using BJ cables.

You chose BJC over Signal Cable?

I changed out my cables & it still happened. I just leave it on all the time now. How high should the volume be via the Sunfire? I have it at +2.
